View Full Version : How Soe should show planetside 2 at e3 my idea ! Whats yours ?
I think in order to really show how planetside should feel !
Soe should show how the roles take place and How amasing working as a team could be and how important team work is !
Look at this killzone 2 multiplayer trailers it was amasingly great to see each class and a team in action :D
Killzone 2 Multiplayer Trailer GC 2008 (HD) - YouTube
Planetside 2 is a game base on Leadership roles , scouting , recon , engineer , assault and i think they must creat a great choregraphie Base on team work that show how each roles shine and how amasing the game will be while playing as a real team !
Hope we will not just see a dev running around and looking for whats he can show off
I would like to see a TEAM demonstration because Planetside is all about team work For the GDC press conference as a exemple it feel more like a lone wolf game where theyre is many players around
I would something that really show whats planetside or ps2 is all about tactics combinaison of class guns vehicules strategies etc...
like having some strategies use and explain to the public to really show that planetside is war and strategics ones NOT JUST A BIG CLUSTER FUCK but also show that chaos situation could be their but alway with a strategic element on top of it !
PS2 as it roots is a RTS FPS game with real people ! i would like SOE to show thats and planned the E3 demo around thats taking the best testers and making them take a roles having headset and show the comunication going on and the leaders calling up big lines of the strategies Squad leaders taking their roles etc..
whats u guys think ?
And dont forget to lisent the Killzone 2 video because it is important as a exemple Thanks for your time !

It would be nice (except I hope for a longer video) but I'll settle for whatever they throw at us. :p

I definitely like the idea of showing off the many different roles during the E3 demo.
Higby and team did an awesome job of showing off infantry combat and vehicles at GDC, and I'd like to see more roles like infiltration, hacking, engineering, medic, and a more extended demo of LA and it's applications like climbing up huge structures and sniping from above.

1. Booth with hot babes in costume.
2. Playable demo.
3. Devs and community reps on hand to give out swag and take a picture of fans posing with hot babes in costume.
Worked for Everquest so why change the plan now??!! :)
Oh, and T-Ray + fedora for the girls to get excited too - it's an equal opportunity world these days ya know!

E3 has changed a bit since EQ but the ideas you guys are putting forward is the direction things are going. Expect some excitement to come out of the show and not just for the media.

Lol... Did .... Not expect... Dev reply...
So in all seriousness, Stew had some great ideas there. Showcasing the kinds of things people can actually do together would be great. PS2 isn't like any other MMO, because without other players there isn't anything to do but admire the scenery. However, when you get a few hundred of your closest friends together, the variety of game play will blow you away, so to speak.

I'd like to see something like the killzone video only more in depth. Show off as much as possible for each class in a concise way.
Show off that an engi repairs vehicles and MAXes, but also sets up machine guns in the field, but also can use high explosives.
Show off an Infiltrator getting some knife and pistol kills, placing C4 on the back of a MAX, and using the sniper rifle to get kills from afar.
Show off a bunch of the medics fancy toys.
That sort of thing. It doesn't have to be too long, but just show off a wide depth of roles for each class.
Maybe even devote one short video to each class. Maybe do the same for some of the vehicles as well.
Do the whole thing scripted so that it can show exactly how hypothetical gameplay would really look, without having to stress over recording actual gameplay. As long as it is using real in game assets, and none of the people in the video are doing anything that can't be done in game, it should be fine.

I still say its a beta announcement. June 15th right? Somewhere around there I would imagine, makes the most sense from what I can gather. Releasing beta before E3 leaves you looking kind of sheepish with "So we're currently in beta..." while potentials are thinking "I didn't hear about that, must not be that great." However, announcing beta at E3 not only allows you to get everyone pumped up about Planetside 2, but it also gets everyone pumped about registering for the beta that would be starting soon.
I say June 15th because it gives enough time from E3 for new potentials to register, download the client if accepted, and also lands on a Friday to allow people all weekend to test appropriately. If you announce beta too far out, then all the excitement from E3 just goes to waste. This is all speculation of course, but makes the more sense to me.

You're definitely on the right lines there Stew.
The E3 demo needs to demonstrate the most unique aspects of PS2, scale, co-ordination and team work.
I still think the best way to do this would be to give all of the PSU community access to the Alpha for E3 only :D

As you said, all they really need to do is get up on stage, set up as many computers as there are classes, and have several of the developers play together, discussing tactics as they do so.

1) I like the hot babes idea, have three each in a skimpy empire outfit.
2) Playable demo
3) a live beta being played by old PS1 players
4) a live showing of the game which starts out with Higby getting into a galaxy with me and several other team work driven community members, we fly into a fight and hot drop into battle and show the team work this game can create.

The hot babe thing aint shit for the game but satified some geek pervers lol
The thing thats will help planetside is SHOWING how fun it is to coordinate and play as a team in a game thats actually suport class , leadership roles and team comunication schouting and showing HOW important all those roles can be in a great choregraphie !
Like the killzone 2 video ive put up we need to heard the squad comunicate with each others on bothside like having a live vanu squad a live TR and NC squad and see their tactics with all the class involve in real time !
This will show HOW planetside 2 shine This will show How important the class could be and How fun the game could be !
Half naked woman are everywhere at E3 and aint shit for the game ;)

If you think the ideas we put up are all just about (( half naked boot babe )) and also just playable demo these are not the idea ive just submited !
My idea was more like the killzone 2 video ive just show I want the Demonstration to be ALL about Planetside not about distraction and unrelated publicity aspect !
I would like to see the core off the game show off the reason why we love planetside !
Team work , Leadership , comunication , now in ps2 (( class systhem )) , and the real time environement that can be use as a strategic element like days and nigth weather etc.. position of the sun !
I would like planetside to be show properly to show thats isnt others games like planetside that share the scales , the team work and the sandbox environements ..
Just having one dev running around looking to show up some people with randoms blue dot and red dots running around will only make planetside look like many other games !
So please Be unic and try to make a nice choregraphie about Tacical team work gameplay ! if possible but i hope it is !

Have Higby and squad of devs and community people for PS2 on stage that are in a squad in game.
All on a hill next to a Galaxy gearing up.
"Planetside 2 will be massive and we needed some help to show the world just how massive this will be."
Higby starts typing in a global chat. "NC commence attack on TR base! VS you too!"
Higby looks over a hill as hundreds of players(early access people) start to attack the base.

Because it did not show anything about the game itself its useless unrelated marketing thing !
These thing need to be done for garbage games when they have a bad product they bring back the boobs and buts to sell their thing !
But planetside 2 isnt garbage its a awesome damned good looking game so i will look foward to see the game represent the core of the game
Team work , WAR , Empires , Comunications , squad base , leadership etc...
Its so silly to want boobs and buts lol this isnt porn this is planetside 2
AND btw almost every games use this (( boobs and buts thing )) but for those who are out there watching E3 from home have nothing to do of boots babes they want contents they want to see if the game actually worth it !
And planetside 2 worth it now its in SOE hands to really represent planetside and not the half naked summer calendar !

tere should be many explosions, and show people walking away from explosions.
They should Show how the teamwork is involve to many team based games always show the games from a randoms running around lone wolf who try some stuff suronded my some randoms blue and red dots !
I would like to see this time in the Demonstration a TEAM a Squad the leader roles taking their team into the actions each roles showing off theyr capabilitys as a group and havint the cameras switching to one screen to another to show both teams and players perspective in the overall strategies !
I want them to Show how awesome is the team play not showing off how awsome it is to run around like a randoms

Actually, now that you mention it, the first things they should show are at least 5 Galaxies' worth of people assembling for a raid/assault...and then right after that, showing how people can hit some sort of Play Now button that will take them straight into a meatgrinder; ie, into either the offensive or defensive side of a fight that's in the door camping stage. Well, door camping is something to be avoided, but you know what I mean.

they dont need to be thats good They just have to made a choregraphie i mean everything is planned and the wiiners are already set ;) but in thats way they show how tactical the game could be and also How the team work the game and why using this or thats vehicules to escort this or thats etc..
its like in a RTS demo they will show this vehicules is made to conter this others etc..
But since planetside is a team based game i would like to heard Higby and others Nc comunicate same for Tr same for Vanu so in the battle we will heard Tray with is Vanu squad Higby with is Nc squad and also IDK who with a TR squad working togueter and preparing a huge battle over a base a bridje or whatever !
And also a trailers In game Like the KZ2 one ive show is a must have ALL TEAM BASED players lovers will freak out and say MAN I WANT THIS GAME

The DEVs need to make one film, with multiple Specialized Outfits, showing the roles of people by class within each outfit type and what they do for a specfic battle. This would be the best way to show the scope of PS2. From setting yo the Outfit Mission, and coordination of Multiple Outfits all taking the same base.
Battle should have a base that all types of outfits can hit at one time from one empire. The Battle should show scenes of Air dropping from a gal, A tank fight outside the base, light infantry scaleing the walls of the base. Heavies pushing the front door. The end of the movie victory - The Actual Capture if it.
This should be done for all three empires in all fairness to all players. It should be made HR, and be tailored for Empire Specfic player based fan websites. This would help advertise the game, would involve community and help SOE market PS2.
Movie should be no longer then 2 mins per empire. Three seperate movies would be better then one.

Yeah but having 3 empire specifics video to show particularity of each empire is a must have as well and also a Nanites corp videos !
But the core thing about having 1 video that show all 3 empire like the Killzone 2 video ive show is really cool because it show classs and conter class in action it also show the team work going on on both side of the front line so
Having some Vs with air vehicules running to a few Tr tank so tr call reinforcement with ligthning AA vehicules etc.. so you can see both side you can heard the team work going on and it can be a choregraphie everything is set to happen in a certain ways but will show whats skills players will be able to do in planetside 2
But i also think thats at E3 they must show some impressive atack featuring a lots of team work Staring 3 X 10 man squad with Microphone so we will be able to see them comunicate and working toghuether !
Relax tiger, it was a joke...
Yeah but i try to be kinda serious about it !
Because i dont want a butts and boobs Show I would like to see a great coverage and a great demo that show whats planetside is all about and also show people how awesome it is to be part of a big team i Humongous battles !

I disagree.
I say the ideal way will be to get 1000 pc on e3 and have a massive battle...people arn't used to so much chaos since they play 16 player multiplayer games or 64 at most.
Of course that is way too many pc's so if they have to show a demo then is has to be a massive battle.
and I mean massive battle, with 1000's of players, not hundereds like we have seen...People will be amazed.

E3 should be an updated showing of the game in action. None of this LIVE LOGGING ONTO THE SERVER! Just explain afterwards the scale, and spend some time getting some excelent footage of what is possible.
Good idea would be to show one side defending a base, and dealing with whatever is thrown at them by the other two factions. Would go a long way to showing the action, the strategy, and the hectic nature of an MMOFPS.
just suggesting.
