I don't need to explain how compelling it is to have fan made videos driving the social media campaign by posting videos on youtube.

However, I cannot really make the video I want based on what has been posted.

Here are the issues I have:

1. The audio has voice over the game sounds (e.g. Higby's 45 min. play) or the game sounds are missing or not usable.

2. The videos are very limited in number with lots of fast cuts & time dilation.

3. There are few videos that really show the breadth and depth of the play types (one aircraft type, single faction, etc...).

4. There are only limited views of structures and landscape.

If I could wish for something, it would be a library of stock recordings with in-game sounds of play sessions from different sides, without commentary.

Is there any one else who wants more usable footage or is this just me being, well, me ?

I'm sure there are loads of people (including me), but it wont be available until we can produce our own ingame during beta. I doubt we will be able to release that footage until it goes into open beta, but i dont see any reason we cant capture footage and start work on a video in closed beta.

U cant really because when the game will come in open beta it will be more polish and good looking so it will not be representative of the actual game when u release it ! u know whats i mean ?

its like the people who are using the First planetside 2 video this video already look pretty outdated the game in alpha already look more than twice as good as planetside 2 first video !

So i think to make the most awesome and representative video we should wait until at least open beta footage !

I dont think the difference visually between closed and open beta will be so drastic that it render all footage useless.. tbh alpha looks good enough as it is. For sure there will be new stuff, skins, vehicles, continents added.. But i dont think there will be a major graphics overhaul between closed and open beta.

Dude I'm right there with you; I can't wait to start editing all kinds of awesome gameplay videos and getting the gaming community at large in on PS2.

My gut instinct says wait until E3... we're going to see some incredible footage there and have so much more to work with next month.

If you're really bent on doing a video now, you can definitely mute the clips we currently have and put some classic Planetside tracks over it, or other music of your choice. To me, it won't be worth putting a lot of effort into videos until we have some solid HD video that shows off everything from MAXes to infiltration to Galaxy hotdrops to thousand-player bridge battles. It's going to be epic.
