Came back from MEPS on Tuesday. Scored a 96 on the ASVAB and passed everything physical except high blood pressure... Was 158/68. Wasn't expecting such a high number, I guess I was freaking out about the blood test as I'm deathly afraid of needles. So today I went to see a physician because I need 3x a day in 2 day BP readings to be able to swear in. Got a 134, 128 and 120 readings. Tomorrow is gonna be the day I pass this and I swear in next week.

Anyone else here in the branches of the military? I'm in the Army and I've chosen Military Police as my job. I ship off on November 6th.

MP........ ugh

1st thing you need to do, is go and take the FAST course to get your GT score above a 110 if it isn't, this opens up future jobs for you if you want to re-class or go OCS.
MP is a tough job, no love from the rest of the Army unless they need your help, it's a thankless job for sure. But you get law enforcement options once you are out, and can go civilian LE from there.
You will work swing shifts, 12 hrs on desk duty answering phones or going on patrol in some crappy government vehicle. In CONUS you will be working alongside civilians allot, as we outource our LE to them for the most part. So be ready to answer to some dude in black or blue police-garb wearing imaginary E-7 rank....
My neighbor was an MP, and I never saw him because he worked the midnight shift, 6pm to 6am, with a 45 min drive to and from work. He worked 13 days streight, and then got 2 to 4 days off..

In good news, the promotion points are low, so you can make SGT quickly.

Yeah I start off in basic as E-4. I did ROTC in high school for 4 years. Its gonna be hard though. I've wanted to be a police officer or something in law since I was in middle school.

They'll say you are selfish. Even though a lack of access to treatment, in conjunction with coming to the realization that America isn't helping these people by killing them, is somehow supposed to prevent suicide instead of facilitate it. I went through MEPS last month. Got a 93 on my Asvab. Unfortunately, apparently I have something called kyphosis (or however you spell it) which is similar to scoliosis. I'm trying to get a medical waiver but I think I'm ****'d.

Windmill, I would check with a civilian doctor about your "Kyphosis." Let's just say that military doctors (or any civilian doctor working for the military) just aren't up to speed as the rest of the country is. Many of my friends have been misdiagnosed and are now in the process of receiving a medical board from the military because they weren't properly treated when they needed it. Now they are paying the price on the military screw up.

I'm not saying you don't or do have it. Just be careful with what you hear at MEPS or beyond.
