Jump pads are interesting. Definately useful and serve a purpose as bases are much larger now.

I am not against the function of jump pads per se, but the jumping part. Why don't we use point to point teleporter pads instead?

The game looks great but without lots of people playing no footage is going to do the game Justice. I could show that footage to people and they'd think it's any other FPS, need to get thousands of people into the beta.

I noticed one thing though: Can it be that indoor fights like we used to have are pretty much gone in PS2? All I have seen so far are rather small rooms that are not connected. I think it would be a shame if there was no indoor combat anymore.

Yeah, jump pads are new, but I think it will be fine. it is a more accessible mechanic than zip-lines or point-2-point teleport pads as it gives an indication as to the direction and doesn't clutter up the sky.
Everything looks so good. When can we expect the next video??? :D

Not sure I care about one soldier being able to C4 a tank in one shot. Especially since no 3rd person on ground vehicles. Other than that, the game looks great for this phase of it's existence.
Keep moving. Vehicles that just sit there will be vulnerable.

I love jump pads (Gotta Go Fast). I also love the TTK on vehicles, seems a bit faster than at GDC? Also seems like it will be difficult to fly over an enemy base and survive the sheer firepower coming from turrets and things.

The one thing this video shows more than anything is that it's nowhere near finished. Expect it to take at least another year for release.
Some animation stuff really.
Like tb said most features are made, but they are not in because of a bug or two or because it is being tested on its own.
Similarly this could be a earlier build.

This is some pretty awesome footage but so sad to see that it's still nowhere near ready for beta. It's great to finally see a max in action as well as AV weapons and Magrider stuff. Not really diggin the jump pads but it makes sense with the massive scale of the base. I can't wait to see the footage that Hamma comes back with...

We're in agreement. Two things:
1. Would prefer point to point teleporters if we must have this
2. Hopefully they only exist at Main bases. Not at towers, not at minor capture points, and certainly not at places in the middle of nowhere.

I like it, the team probably likes it to as they have more freedom when designing a base. Without these launch pads every base would have the standard 4 wall design around it.

Only thing I would change is make the mancannon's fire more horizontal.
Put them on the edge of the wall or cut a hole in the wall that you step in and flings you to the next one.
More space inside the roof top and less accidental personnel discharges.

Great great footage.Not to sure about those jump pads either though and how quick a headshot is.Not a big fan at how fast the TTK or "hacking" is I'd say just a tad bit slower imo.But it's alpha so who cares.And ewww BF3 Killcam still. bleh
The only thing i noticed that i didnt really like was the insane screen shake when near explosions that made me istantly sick, i guess its going to be tuned way down tho. I hope.

They'll be amazing, the zip lines in the caverns were really fun, even though the caverns were not lol. Tbh you cannot have zip lines everywhere so jump pads are the best alternative for quick travel around a base. Travelling around a base in Planetside 2 with the size of them without the jump pads would be so tedious.
Who doesn't love games like Quake 3 with all the jump pad maps? You're a target in the air too and you draw attention to yourself.

Guys in the comments (I know it must be some of you), try to avoid chewing people out merely for making comparisons. By all means set people who call it a rip-off straight, but yelling at people simply for saying it looks like a cross between BF3 and Halo doesn't make us look very friendly. :p

It's not really quick travel as in you're clicking on a bell or a door and being warped somewhere. I mean Planetside has despawning in in tubes and travelling to somewhere else.....
This is just a jump pad to navigate the bases quickly which in their current design would take far too long to run from one side to the other and wouldn't be very fun.

such a beautiful world! t-ray was so serious when he talked about ps2 to be top notch, not only compared to mmos, but even in comparison to singleplayer aaa shooters!
a lot of alpha bugs around, but that´s normal. but good to see how many great things are aleeady implemented.
i suppose the burster effekt was supposed to set off near the enemy instead of at point blank? but the effect itself looks really convincing! best flak i saw in a game to date.

And, as he pointed out in the video, it does not properly portray what the actual scale will be. You aren't just going to have one tank in isolation like that. You're going to have a bunch of tanks and a bunch of infantry on foot around them, aircraft overhead, and so on.

I really hope there is a central "main" room that is large enough to house huge indoor fights. If not hopefully the bio domes will provide this experience.
Idk how I feel about the jump pads, I liked the idea of walking the perimeter and defending the stairs :/ but I'll trust the devs I guess this one will wait for beta.
Other then that (and the kill cam I mentioned before) the game looks spectacular I can't wait

Well with them in it looks like it'll still take longer to get from one side to the other side of the base than it did in Planetside. Also have to remember that these bases in scale look ten times as big and far more open and less prone to being door camped. Defence of your tower or base in Planetside was horrible, you couldn't walk out the door or you'd be shot by vehicles camping it.
I really think people are complaining about the wrong things before they've even played the game themselves.
The only thing I saw that looked really bad was the animations.

Jump pads are clearly the redesign of zip-lines from the caves in PS1, and based on what I see I like them and think it's a nice addition.
Overall impressed with what I see (and just as importantly, hear) in the video.
Can't wait for the rest of the footage.

Yeah, I noticed that too, also remember T-Ray saying something about SOE meeting thingy in october we should check out. That gave me the impression that we would still be waiting on release by then. Then again, might just be me reading too much into things.
Also greatly looking forward to what Hamma and Jennyboo gonna bring back :P

Aww man! That was the best 20 minutes of the day!
Soooo beautiful, the tracer bullets, the lighting, the lovely animation of the planes. The scythe was a thing to behold (even the one that face planted!). The magrider looked awesome to drive and I'm sooo happy it could go toe to toe with a Vanny. VS FTW :):):)

You know we keep asking 'why is this not beta yet' well we got our answer with the dancing TR max animations and "AOE damage not working properly". But damn it is starting to look polished in terms of the UI.
I can also see why they invited him to go, he provides an awesome and knowledgeable commentary, and his audience is mainly non-planetside, so it'll increase interest.
Aw man, I kinda stopped following TB after he dropped out of WoW coverage, but now he's drawn me back in.
Gotta say, I love the way the game seems to be playing. Maybe they could slow down the ttk a bit, but I honestly don't mind it so much. I think the tank and C4 is interesting, I don't know how many c4 he managed to throw down, but I do like the idea of tanks not being so damn hard to kill for infantry. Hopefully, the second turret dynamic and a higher spawn rate for tanks will balance it out.
The graphics really do look gorgeous, and I don't think I've ever seen a game pull off night so convincingly. SO MANY SHINY THINGS! The tracer fire and the air-craft engines are really amazing too. I'd love to see them incorporate some special, stealthier vehicle options to take advantage of darkness (or at least let us turn off headlights sometimes) but I think it's really cool how they've approached this.
Finally, the bases. They look amazing, I have to say I'm more of a fan of the current design than the old base interiors, although we certainly haven't seen everything yet. I like indoor combat, but some of the base fights in PS1 could be very frustrating, lots of places to hide and camp, and a little too cramped for my tastes. As for jump pads, I understand their necessity,the bases are freakin huge, after all, and I think defense would be way too difficult if defenders are all spread out and would take a while to get to an area that's under attack. I actually prefer the idea of jump pads to teleporters, for two reasons. First, as a defender, I like the perspectives it can get, so you know what you're getting into, where the enemy is, etc. As a frequent Halo player, I can't tell you how much of a paint teleporters can be, as they tend to be prime camping areas, something PS2 seems to be avoiding. On the other hand, I also like how the jumping is visible by the other team, who can see and possibly even shoot down players who are jumping around. Gives you a chance to react to incoming reinforcements rather than have them just pop out of nowhere.
One thing I think could be better than jump pads is commonly available, small, and fast aerial transports, like a mini-galaxy without the spawn, holding maybe 5 passengers and a pilot. Have a couple of those flying around a base, dropping off and picking up soldiers... I think it'd be a lot of fun.

Regarding the C4.. he managed to walk behind a tank. If you play as a team you simply need to make sure the tanks have cover from behind.
Another tactical element which is also used in WW2 Online, where sappers can blow up tanks and cripple your entire attack.

I liked most of what I had seen in that video. With exception of the TTK,the lack of entry and exit animations, one shot C4 ( Uh.. boomer? ), and the over use of motion blur. It also REALLY disturbed me how easily he jumped from the aircraft, and how little damage he took.
It is VERY Battlefield in many aspect, where it needs to be more Planetside.
I am also not a fan of the ability to customize the forward lights, at night, that a clear indicator of faction, and should not be changeable. IMO.

That may be true, but it was no hotdrop ( Straight down ), and there was no delay of ejection.
That a bit to battlefield superman for my tastes, I'm going to assume this is just for alpha.

If you are going to be a lone player in a tank then you are going to have to deal with AV infantry.
If you don't want that happening to you get a buddy in the turret and get other tanks in you squad to cover your ass.

What are we expecting to be the deterrent against carrying C4? Perhaps deterrent is not the best word...what is the opportunity cost of carry C4? A weight limit, or do you have to give up some other weapon/more ammo/gadget?

Planetside is of the Tribes line? Oh no. I don't think most people want to have a game built around flying infantry that you have to time your explosive weapon firing to catch them on the ground, they could play Tribes Ascend for that.

Holy crap everything is lit up like a christmas tree.
That giant blue holo sight on the VS gun was incredibly distracting. As were the headlights on the Mag.. put the lights in front of the tank, I don't need the tank itself lit up.
The MAX, while awesome to see, also had severe muzzle flash issues. I couldn't even see what he was aiming at.
And the mosquito cockpit can be described in one word.. RED! Stuff like that is exactly why I hate cockpits, especially in sci fi, because its continually proven that nobody ever makes them functional and rational. They've always got to go out of their way to prove how futuristic they are.
Seriously.. please tone down the colors a bit. Its too much, too distracting. Might be fine during the day, but the extreme contrast at night is very painful to look at.
And one final note.. Am I the only one who thinks the guns are way too big?
Other than those things, it looks seriously awesome gameplay wise. :D

3rd person tank view. I would presume a tank costs a helluva lot more resources than a pack of c4. I don't care if he put 2 or 3 there, he did that too quick. No worries. Like I said, aircraft here I come. I liked what I saw of it's functioning pretty much 100%. I can't say that at all about the ground play I saw.

Wow, that was absolutely fantastic. Best footage we have seen so far. I cant even describe how much i want the game right now.
The good:
- Night look, mood and feel. Tracers, Lights on buildings, explosions, weapon fire lighting the gun and the surrounding area up. Fantastic.
- The scale. You got a much better feeling here than in the GDC videos or the sreenshots.
- Aircraft sound and afterburner, and the whole feel.
- The high flight ceiling! I hate it when a game has a low max altitude, so i love the fact that you can get really high here!
- Tanks burning, wreckage rolling on, wrecks staying on the battlefield.
- Terran republic AA Max Flak cannons, dakka dakka dakka!
- The large lower indoor areas of the main building, as well as the walkways between the turrets.
- Force field lifts to get up on towers.
- Landscape look, and all the different pathways and stuff. Did you notice the flat top of those huge stone archways? Looks like a tank could drive there!
- Antigravity Lift Tubes.
- Wall Turret placement.
- Overall Look.
The bad:
- Still quite some time until beta state apparently :(
- Screen shake when he was in that small building and the door shield was hit by what i assume was rapid tank fire. I seriously hope you will never have that bad screen shake in the final game.
On the fence:
- Jump Pads. While i can understand the use of them, they look and feel silly. If you can fire rocket launchers in midair, we are potentially looking at a Quake 3 Rocket Arena match, and as much as i loved Quake 3, i dont want that in Planetside.

I agree there's practicality issues here or there. The speedometer was hard to read in the mossie and the MAX is obviously not finished yet.
Other than that, I think the contrast is good. Maybe the holo-site could be slightly dimmer/more transparent, but it almost sounds like you don't want a lightshow at night...Which is objectively insane. :P

the game looks great and all BUT in bf3 numbers, like 64-100 people playing at the same time(just for A base) . So i really wonder how this turns out with 2k people in the server, since the JUMP PADS are added it will be quite a mess :D

Even with 2k players on an island, the fight seems to be less centered on one point with their new hex grid system. I could see those players spread out across the whole front line and not just fighting over one base at a time like the original linear base capture progression that was in PS1.
I just hope there are choke points like bridges or canyons to create those awesome stalemate battles that lasted for hours like on Hossin or Amerish.

Amazing. I personally love the jump pads. I was worried at first that it would be too hard to defend such a large base, but the jump pads really give that defensive advantage allowing people to move around.
The end where he's flying across the desert into Indar's forest environment is astounding. Really captures the details and map layouts.

Very impressed.
So awesome to finally see some Scythes in motion. I lol'd at the comment about how overpowered they currently were. I was wondering if that would happen.
I also loved the cockpit view of the Mosquito. Morto's mockup did a great job as a placeholder, but the real thing, with dem sound effects... phenomenal.
The jump pads really threw me, but I'm warming to them a little from a gameplay perspective. They seem like a much better solution than the ziplines of CC. Stylistically I would probably prefer teleporter pads, but this is probably better for balance. Maybe if they added a little button you had to press to activate the jump pad launch, so it felt a little less arcade like.
This video certainly does make me question where the development progress is at, but I'm not too worried about closed being ridiculously far away. The way the devs keep talking about beta, I'd be more inclined to think it was a few months away tops, not sometime next year. Even TB mentioned that it was a long way off from open beta, which is entirely different from closed beta. You want all of your shit fully functional and polished for open beta, because that's meant to mostly just be a stress test and to catch a few last minute bugs. Closed beta is for putting the game through its paces once all of the core elements are in place.
It seems like there are really just a few more major things they have to put in before the potential for closed beta is here.
Things like the Scythe being overpowered don't necessarily have to be perfected for closed beta to launch (although there is no reason not to fix it before then). Things that prevent even being able to use an entire major part of the game, like midair flak bursting or animations for MCG's, do need to be fixed, so that we can test the game as an entire functioning package.
Overall, this video raised a few fears and put a lot more to bed. All in all a net positive and an amazing thing to behold.
The more of this game I see, the more I want to see. I can't wait to see what comes of Hamma's visit, the rest of TB's footage, and E3.

Alpha it may be, but it already looks fantastic as a game, the flightmodel seemed robust, physics from collisions were weighty and bullet travelspeeds seemed reasonable.
oh and the guns are a bit large on-screen (a wave at the console games that wish they could be this)big?.

I honestly don't like the jump pads I'd rather walk a super far distance, or better yet. Let the people that are already on that side of the tower take care of it and stay put. No jump pads feels more immersive too me the Jpad approach is too arcade for my style. Either way still going to be the best game ever.
Only bad thing. I'm now skepticle that Beta will begin after E3. Maybe it will be announced when but I don't expect it for quite some time now. Not only does TB talk like it isn't coming but it looks really early for beta.

I'm also not sure about the aircraft going into third person during boost. Is that only for Alpha? Because it kind of ruins the whole idea of skillful dogfights where its more difficult to keep a lock on your opponent. If all you have to do when you lose sight of them is boost for half a second to find them again. I also hate how quick the getting in/out of vehicles is. It's just too arcade. Add a delay at least jeez.
On the plus side night combat looks great. And I love how big an complex the bases seem to be. I just hope the indoor combat part is also good. Also what little we see of the MAX looks promising.

I would also wish for vehicle entering/leaving times to be longer, maybe 1-2 seconds to stop people jumping in if they are about to die, or jumping out when about to die. And 3rd person isn't bad, it means you can't shoot very well while using it.

I actually think having to walk the whole way would be better, simply because it'd mean that we'd have to fight to progress.
I don't know... I'm not a big fan of the jump pads. The ones to go up are fine (if they don't forget stairs fights can be cool too), but the other ones bother me.
Anyway, awesome video, the game looks gorgeous and absolutly awesome.
It's really too bad that there were so few people playing the game at that time, though.
Can't wait to get my hands on it!

The tracer lightshow is amazing. Its all the extremely bright glowing bits tacked onto the soldiers to make sure everyone understands its sci fi that I take exception to. The mossie instrument panel, the green bits on the side of guns, the VS sights, etc.

Here are some random small details I noticed...
0:08 Weapons and vehicles terminals in the middle of nowhere. (At the bottom of a canyon.) May be there for demo purpose?
His Mosquito carries 2 air-to-air missiles and ~400 cannon rounds. Ammo count is in the middle of the cockpit. He uses his last missile at 0:44.
There's a dot moving around the altimeter. At 0:03 it's in the lower right, at 0:42 it's in the upper right. It's not linked to the compass. At 0:45 he does at 270 degrees left turn yet the dot barely moves.
The ring around the speedometer seems to indicate forward speed, it empties when hovering (0:19). For some reason, when he spawns a new Mosquito at 20:00, the ring is flashing instead, and most of the cockpit isn't working either. (No ammo count, no afterburner bar, no flares signal)
The first Magrider seen (the one destroyed with C4) is labeled "Vehicle [1/2]", one of two seats occupied? I think the player using it is getting out and reentering it to man the AA gun, then getting out and re-entering to move the tank, etc.
A "capture meter" appears around capture point icons when looking directly at them. 2:54, 3:01, 3:03... The meter is colored to show which factions has captured the CP.
At 4:56, the jump pad doesn't launch him far enough to reach the other building. He has to use his jump jet. Same thing at 5:19. Strangely, he seems to have less trouble using jump pads as a MAX (8:45) and Heavy Assault (9:16).
At 5:47, 2 out of 4 resources are at 5000. Later, at 10:30 and 21:26, 3 out of 4 are. Possible resource cap value, or just a placeholder? That would also mean a different cap for "blue triangles".
6:25 The icon for the cloak charge is incorrect, it's the same as for the jump jet. The cloak lasts about 10 seconds.
7:20 Ammo count starts flashing when close to 0, no reloading animation yet. (Does a MAX need them?) 7:52 Ammo count becomes red when even closer to zero.
11:03 - 11:10 Capture points' icons are green squares when held by the other factions, they turn to yellow circles when captured.
The "Facility Defended" message that appears at 11:39 is linked to the bars on the left side of the UI. The message appears when the VS bar is filled. This event causes NC to lose capture points A and B.
NC captures point C at 11:55 and the bars reappear.
There's also a symbol or something on the left end of NC's bar. Capture time bonus from the hexes around this one?
13:22 The Heavy Assault's missile launcher shows the distance to the target that it is acquiring/locked on. Is it because it has a minimum and/or maximum ranges?
15:33 Why is that shield perpendicular to the door frame, unlike the other ones? Alpha build bug or infiltrator hack to let anyone through?
22:43 Something weird happens to the sky. A "fast forward" effect because an admin changed the time?

The healthregen takes so long (~25 seconds) to kick in that it's practically useless in a fight, so you will have to have medics keeping you up in a fight.

There still shouldn't be any health regeneration at all. I'd be ok with it if it was an implant like second wind or regeneration. But not automatically.
Eh, I'd be against it but if it's 25 seconds... who cares. You'd either find a medic or a terminal by then anyway.

The tracer fire at night was just perfect. At one point TB says "now imagine this but times fifty.", and it's that image I find so awesome. Just the scenes that are going to play out, we really don't have anything like this in the available video game market.
The jump pads bother me a bit, not because I find them a poor game mechanic, but more because they just don't seem to fit with the rest of the world. I'd also ditch those grav lifts/shoots for an elevator that makes regular trips. But there's not a lot of way's around it, not unless the population is high enough to sustain the turrets on all walls at all times, and that'll never work, because people are going to be where the actions is - if the fight's not the east side, I wager those turrets might sit empty. So people are going to need a way to relocate quickly, either that or just have the game use a tough love idealism and make us hoof it, and if you just didn't have forces on the east side, well you should have planned better. While I'd prefer that from a thematic perspective, I don't know if the game would be better for it. But hey, thats why I just play the game, not build it :P

PS1 had a regen implant. It was so slow, it was as terrible as the one in the video. IT was like 1 hp per 5 seconds or something.

Amazing vid.
My judgement is still out on the jump pads. Would like to see how to work/interact with them personally though I think if they are only on the battlement towers of a base it should be ok.
I hate an infantry being able to take out a tank solo in Planetside (or a BFR for that mate) and I'll hate it more if it's that much easier in PS2. I hope there's something to balance this and yes I agree the tank stood still too long and yes if it had a gunner it likely wouldn't have happened but it better be something like jacking time to lay that much C4. Tanks should be fought at a distance by infantry and more so in an ambush situation. Running up, knocking on the hull and saying "Thanks for padding my stats bro" just doesn't fit unless they want to do away with vehicles.
Lighting effects are great, hope they work with the 2k worth of carnage they're looking at. All that night work seems to be paying dividends.
Hit boxes looking in good shape.
Don't mind the kill cam, just personal I guess. Gets me revved for a revenge streak :)
Overall good comments. Don't think anyone should be trying to nerf anything seen yet without giving a try in a real firefight. Beta is going to set the bar for a lot of what this game is going to finish with. At least try it before beating it to a pulp.
Love where all this is headed, still wondering how certs, br, skills and resources will all play out. Keep up the good work SOE. Looking forward to this.

The Lightning did way too much damage to that mag, considering they were front-to-front the Lightning was definitely on top before it missed a shot and decided to charge the mag rider.
Tanks are gonna need to be able to soak the damage of a big portion of a 200+ pop defense force engaging them. In Planetside the tanks were strong as hell, you beat them by either massing infantry or keeping them at a distance with jammers and mines.
The damage/style of the tanks is Battlefield 3 level, which I don't think suits the combined arms/MMO style of Planetside. In BF3 tanks are just like powerups in quake, they don't really fill a role too well, they die pretty quickly and they have a lot of damage potential but that's not really what a tank is for. I'd say the survivability is more a role of a tank, the Mag in TB's vid died in 2 shots from a vanguards main gun, that is a rear armor, then front armor shot. It also seemed as if TB severely damaged the vangaurd (Flames) in about 8 seconds of fire.

Well they ARE a necessity. It's not a simple matter of "Oh I don't feel like getting a medic just cause I got my face shot of, so I'll just wait here in the corner.", simply because 25 seconds are like years in a fight.
Not to mention that it isn't even a fast regeneration, it still took ~4 seconds to regen his health in the video which looked about 30-40% down, couple that with damage pretty much guaranteed to interupt the regen and the problem is non-existant.
Only thing it really does change compared to PS1 is that now you wouldn't have to waste a medkit after a fight if you are alone, aren't a medic and do not have a medic present.

yea, but right now everybody seems to use admin controls to switch between factions, classes and vehicles all the time. and TB said, he missed the "real" playtest. having 200 players is easy to balance factionwise. with only 5 to 10 players unbalanced moments do happen (with admin magic powers enabled)

Nothing should be able to one shot an MBT with full armour except for a direct OS hit.

Well, not really overpowering as if you see from some seconds before that, the lightning appears on the mini-map anyway so you would already have known it was there before hopping back into the Mag.

Air combat looks like it'll be fairly terrible. Stopping and turning on almost on a dime is something I hoped we'd left behind in PS1. Dogfighting will be just as boring as it was in PS1 if they don't do a serious overhaul. It hurts my brain imagining someone seeing the Planetside 1 aircraft mechanics and going "we need to do that again".
Everything dies really quickly. Too quickly. Tanks must die in seconds in larger fights. Infantry die so quickly I wonder why the revive mechanism isn't simply rolled into the engineer class and the medic done away with. I guess this stuff'll might change but who knows.
Night looks good. Everything looks good really. Dark enough to be atmospheric, not so dark you can't see anything.
Etc etc. Whatever. Looks good overall, hopefully the iffy stuff gets changed by this fall or winter when beta is ready for play.

The mosquito in planetside has a top speed of 119 kph at normal speed and a top of 287 kph at full boosters. In PS2 I noticed the mosquito easily do 228 at cruising and above 360kph with boosters. They are much faster and that must be why he went from near 1 warpgate to the other in about a minute. Who knows maybe by beta they will slow them down.

The jet speed looked fine to me, made them seem like helicopters/dropships which I liked.
Bear in mind the TTK on those things was pretty low, they'll need the speed to survive. I'd rather the planes sacrifice armor for speed as it discourages hoverspam/infantry farming and encourages strafing runs on tanks which IMHO is more immersive and less annoying to the guys on the ground.

C4 needs to be a pricey consumable if it's going to be available to everyone, and it should take at least two or three to kill any MBT. Ideally I would prefer it if only certain classes had access to it like engineer and infiltrator but that is a balancing question that will be answered in Beta. To the folks complaining that one person could completely ruin a tank on their own, remember that all it took was a dedicated hacker to not only kick you out of the tank but put you at risk for being gunned down yourself! I do think that the TTK will have to be raised a bit once populations start rising but again, TBD in Beta.

Are grenades/C4/Boomers going to be affected by lifts and jump pads?
All of these things will be answered and fixed if necessary during Beta. I have a feeling that once the populations go up, there won't be much of a need for letting everyone jump around as far and as quickly.
Also Red Ketchup, I did see two down there, but I don't recall whether the tank was at full health when he blew it up.
On a separate note, I saw that a grenade he threw had a 3-second or so delay before exploding. I'm not sure if they were toggled that way but the delay felt right. Question that comes to my mind is will we be able to throw grenades back if they land near us...
On that topic of Ziplines as earlier mentioned, there are other ways to design a zipline without making it clutter up the sky ;) I will go ahead and make a suggestion post for it.

Regen was faster than that (but slower than med app). Its weakness was that it ate your stamina at an absurd rate, leaving you vulnerable afterward.

Flight model is one thing that I personally can't really tell from watching a video. Hell, I thought BF3's flight model looked OK in videos before it released, only after it released was I able to discern otherwise. And so I at least, can't really say anything about this without playing it.
NB: TTK and other things are easy to tell from a video...just in case anyone is going to say why don't we wait for beta to discuss THAT.

Well the last I heard of it was months ago when Higby mentioned it wasn't in, due to the difficulties of meshing it with the new customization and skill trees.

Here is a screen capture from TB's video I found interesting. Is that crater in the north present in original PS1 Indar?

Edit: And I just noticed that it says "Hack command consoles to capture facilities". Why does it say that in PS2 when capture mechanics are now proximity?

OMFG .... Amazing! Love the tracer fire and how the aircraft look operating over the base. Love the terrain features, looking schweet!
Not sure on the jump pads. I see why but..... I don't think I like. Airport-style in bridges and tunnels maybe, that can be turned on/off.

SOE better not make flare cooldown the same as the "usual" anti air launchers rate of fire. BF3 is completely retarded in that sense, you simply can't damage an aircraft alone cos the flares will always be up before you can fire again.

Indar is completely dry, this is probably the one thing I dont like.
