now even with the limited footage we got, some manage to capture the spirit of the game very good! this would even do as a real trailer.

Ya, pretty good. Glad someone made one with some TotalBiscuit footage. Music is a little slow paced for the fast paced combat, but then again, not everyone was a fan of my vids music either. :cool:

About the music, remember we have to make videos that in some way we enjoy ourselves and its soooooooo hard to pick a track that everybody will like. I have a very broad music interest. But I don't like everything.

In future video's please don't comment on the music, its usually a personal choice, the same goes for other peoples videos. But saying that, there is nothing wrong with suggesting music, and folks might just make a video with music you may like.

Glad you folks are enjoying seeing Planetside 2 the way I see it.

Nice. I hope that folks like you and Total Biscuit (and many others, not being exclusionary) will be allowed to submit closed beta footage videos to SOE for approval to be posted. TB has already expressed interest in this regard, and with how cool the team has been, I imagine such a thing will be possible.

I hadn't listened to the song before but I like it. Fit the video nicely. Those shots of the Reavers banking with that physics engine making them drift a little before turning makes me giddy every time. I'd love to see those shots set to a dozen more soundtracks and it still wouldn't get old for me.

Agreed & ditto. All of the video's I've made in the past, I do the footage first, then I try to match the music to the video. The video I made yesterday was the first time I knew the song going into it, and was matching the footage to it. So no one was going to convince me that it didn't fit.

This is amazing. Can you imagine how epic these videos are going to be when we have the actual game to work with, instead of just piecing together footage that's been fed to us? My favorite PS1 videos are probably the KAAOS and Sturmgrenadier videos. Can't wait to have something of that equivalent in PS2.

I'd argue that half of the critique of a video can be made off of the music/sound and whether or not the video clips are properly in line with the ebbs and flow of the music/sound. A video without sound is only half the experience.

I like that song; however, I thought there was a lack of effort to try and incorporate the video in with the music. I noticed some areas (notably the beginning) where you did this, but overall I thought it was poorly administered.

As for the video clips, I was pretty bored watching most of the video. One memorably boring area was when you were showing off the MAX's. The picture pans were pretty cool, then the ~40-50 seconds of watching them walk around doing nothing was worthless.

Overall I think it was rather boring and the soundtrack was grossly mismatched for the content. Music video's (which is exactly what this was) are not just music and video, they are one together and should be seen as such.

However,
I think you have the right idea, keep putting stuff out. <3

Nicely done! I have the song in my car haha, just knew someone would use it with PS2 footage sooner or later. I think it's a bit harsh to say it didn't really fit, especially as there isn't a huge amount of footage to use at the moment. I thought it worked well for the most part.

Then again if something doesn't appeal to someone they should always feel like they can say it. The key is always tact, start with positive remarks then the negative then end with more positive if you can. :)

did anyone else notice the entirely random kill total biscuit got during his night footage? you can see it here A 1:37....but in the night footage video it is..0:44 seconds in.

totally random rocket picks up a kill...at least thats what i am guessing. feels like it hit the ground pretty quick

I think you don't understand, that this was all done by him and it's his intelectual property. The game isn't, but the footage and talkover is. He had to prepare all of that, edit it and so on. What you keep doing (all the time btw, when I see what you have on your channel) is take other people's work, than edit by maybe adding a song and nothing else and then you get views and in case of this video, little bit of fame from developers tweeting about it. But you haven't actually done any of it. You don't deserve the praise you are getting. You just don't because you are just refining other people's work, and that's just not cool.

This is actually the reason why I refused to make videos for Planetside TV, because so far, none of it is done by you and you even expect other people to do it for you.

is there not a bigger picture as the goal here? he made a video that everyone likes, that will get people interested in the game. end of story.

i feel like the reason totalbiscuit went to SOE was to get raw data and information for us. same with hamma, to get insight. once the material is dug up, i thought it would be expected to be used by different creative minds to come up with material to draw in a playerbase. so to say hey thats mine! you cant have it!. sounds kinda childish.

now i can see how someone using your work to produce less than stellar work might be irksome, but A. im not sure there is anything you can do about that. and B. maybe guide the fellow to create higher quality work so he who has the drive can create movies and such, so everyone wins.

in the end, drawing in more of a player base is what is important right?

we can be nitpicky about videos because were fans....superfans... but so far when i have showed this video to the general public, they shit kittens.. which i think is the point.

edit - unsure of legit copyright laws regarding whos "property" it is. my feelings are the same, but if its illegal in some way....that would suck

Firstly I would hardly say playing some games and talking about them is work...

Secondly he only touched up the previous 45 minutes of gameplay because it was grainy and needed a bit of work done to it. No one complained when he made it all nice a shiny for you.

Thirdly, he worked on this video for 6 hours, so its his work at the end of the day.

Forthly, TB has the only ON-SCREEN footage for the game and morto is only trying to get more people interested so we can have a long and fruitful game experience in PlanetSide2 when it releases. Get new blood in so we can have a game with the populations we sorely need.

Finally - If he would actually get some help from the community then he would be able to release better content and grab more people for PS2, but instead you sit behind your desk and whine about how he's not doing it right while juggling work, girlfriend, website design, posting news, posting videos, getting people interested in PS2, Editing and being able to sleep inbetween.

Maybe you think you can do it better on your own?

You really don't see the difference? He recorded the video himself. He prepared and made the talkover himself. He edited the video himself (I mean adding the text and stuff, not just cutting it). You do neither of that.

You think SEO would allow you to take footage like TotalBiscuit has? No they wouldn't... They let TB have it, because he already has name in this industry and he didn't get where he is by refining other peoples work. He made the WoW videos himself.

I was pretty sure it's just about not asking beforehand, what bugs me now is that he can't see anything wrong about what he has done and that he doesn't understand how is commentating over a video different from editing videos of other poeple.

Dude, he's right. All your content is cut and pasted from other peoples images, how is that 100% your work?

Exactly the same cut and paste as morto's video and most of it isn't even from TB's footage.

Yeah he should of asked. The problem is since you've already given permission for other guys, and he is clearly not making money of 'your' material, so you just end up hurting your own reputation being nazi about it. You just come across as a corporate wannabe that would rather burn bridges than let some guy simply make his own video out of love for the PS2 devs at the expense of his own time.

Dude, he's right. All your content is cut and pasted from other peoples images, how is that 100% your work?

The same as morto's video, most of it isn't even from TB's footage.

God you and TB are like children fighting over their toys, after all the fighting it gets broken and that's why we can't have nice things.

Also TB, you could have just said "Ask next time" and been the bigger man but no you had to complain and make a fuss.

3D stuff is all mine. A may have used the concept made by SOE, but it's all my work.

Pictures from SEO are provided for fans, so I made wallpapers and banners out of it. SEO then provided TB with alpha footage to make whatever he wants out of it.

Look at the difference:

SEO provides pictures for community -> I make wallpapers and banners
SEO provides TB with alpha footage -> He makes videos out of it -> You use TB's video

That's why you need to ask TB whether you can use it. And that's why I don't have to ask SEO whether I can use the pictures anymore, because that's why they gave us them in the first place.

If you guys don't undertand it now, you will propably never will.

This is something that could have been handled in a private message but was revealed for all to see. This thread will now be closed because at this point no good can come from it.

EDIT: The information Morto revealed was not from a PM but from Reddit. Regardless it was brought in here specifically to try and create a flame war and that will not be tolerated.
