I could probably be accused of being overly picky or splitting hairs; but the (apparent) lack of transition between different biomes strikes me as being rather abrupt; contrasting starkly with how amazing the lighting is in this game.

I'm mainly going off of this video (22:25)

Are there other illustrations that would shed extra light on this? What do you guys think?

I think it looks fine. You got some trees and spots of green before the full forest.

I'm not sure that video is a good example since he mostly hangs out in the vicinity of one base, but it does seem as if continents will be so small they cannot contain multiple biomes.

Yeah; it may be that the view from that aircraft makes it more apparent, and/or the sand to grass transition without some generally cruddy brown in between, lol.

THe transitions are not functioning as intended at the moment. It will be much more gradual once it's working as intended. :)
