I Noticed this huge gun when inside the tech plant on The Higby, TB video. Then I remembered this video.

PlanetSide 2: Time Lapse Weapon Design - YouTube

Question is this gun is so huge. Whats it for? what will it Kill?

You can see the gun on the tech plant at 38 minutes 27 second into the video.

I get the impression that its just going to be a prop, something to use for cover and such, not a real weapon in the game. But that's just the impression I got from the vid.

I'm surprised no one has commented on how this thread is pretty much a photocopy of two others from months ago.

These guns, and the NC brave enough to bring it to bear (TR and VS are too scared of big explosions to use the serious large-bore weaponry) are the entire reason we don't have space battles in Planetside.

We merely use them as coffee table displays to intimidate our enemies. The mighty TR knows it doesn't take something that big to deal with the infidels and science 12 students.

i would like to see this gun in action, but it looks like a static prop because it´s actual inside a base and pointed at a wall. i couldn´t see any gunport near it to shoot through either.

To put such a bad ass looking gun in the game just for show, cruel.

Especially since it looks like such a cool fixed artillery piece!

VS has a usable one that's bigger, and more purple looking... that moves sideways.

Wow, I'm surprised you guys didn't know about this. It's already been confirmed as an anti-BFR weapon that can be installed near bases.

...psyche, lol! Who felt a flash of fear and rage after reading that?

It can only be used by Liam Neeson.

Definitely looked like a prop to me with it's location. It was inside and definitely would have no line of site to shoot anything really.

I agree it's too bad though. Maybe there will be functioning ones somewhere.

It's used to guard the stairwell.

Definitely a thrillkill when you see weapons like that which you can't use.

Imagine playing Star Wars The Old Republic. Huge ion cannon batteries everywhere.

It'll be cool if there were missions to get it up and operational, requiring engineers as well as donations of resources by the empire.

I was also thinking it could be used as an anti gal gun. Im sure that PS2 will see a lot of gal use. I see 10 to 25 gals easily attacking a base. What can you use to defend against that? Maybe the roof opens up. lets see.

Do you REALLY think the NC could muster 25 gals? lol. I like your sense of humour.

yeah I noticed there was an engine just outside the tech plant, so I'd say it's definitely a prop.

I could see this being one of a few things:

prop
heavy artillery
anti-vehicle
anti-air

I would really like to see the option for bases to deploy these as a defensive measure. After all, what is the point of a big wall if you can't put a big gun on it.

Anti-vehicle or air? That thing looks more anti-orbital target.

I can imagine that being like a Gauss version of the MAC cannon

I can imagine using that in a base defence.

Well hey, it's called being thorough.

After all, I doubt even the NC could salvage something that had been hit by that sucker :P

Those guns need to be usable, as a strong AA or AT weapon. The roof of the techplant should open up when one of the points is capped or a button is pressed.

Would be epic.
