View Full Version : If there is a Impenetrable foot hold on each Continent..

Not seeing how the GLOBAL war will progress across the WORLD. IE: The Planet.....Side.
As it stands, with an impenetrable foothold on each continent, picking a Continent is more like simply picking a server to play on. This may also explain why they have mixed temperate zones per content, instead of each having its own like the original.
Am I missing the WAR game elements here? How can you have a Global front(s) if everyone has an impenetrable base on each continent? Isn't this more like a Session based shooter system? IE: Pick a map.
If I am misunderstanding something, let me know. Thoughts?

Perhaps things will change once they release more continents.
They might even remove the footholds at one point, who knows.

Why do people love beating dead horses? Some people are just sick.

I do see your point and I feel like I have to agree with them. Hopefully once there are more continents they will remove the footholds cept for 1 one 1 continent (home continent). SOE did this to an extent with the original with the changed to the sancs and the moving of the home continent warpgates.

I'd say there's 12 threads in which the issue came up, repeatedly. >.>

I am expecting stalemates that last hours, if everyone can just pull vehicles from an impenetrable base... How bout bases near your factions "sanctuary" that you will rarely get to win a fight over or occupy for any length of time purely because the its so easily to reinforce for 1 faction.
Ill hold judgement till beta, but im expecting the maps to be split in almost equal 3rds the majority of the time and day long 3 ways over the middle base... Since the middle of the map will be the only place not near a sanctuary.
I hope they rotate home bases between factions at least.

It won't progress. There is no progress. You will take a base, and an hour later you will lose it, then someone else will take it, etc ad infinitum. There is no victory, no defeat, only an endless stalemate.

Victory is momentary. Fun lasts forever.
Seriously, this is just a matter of scale. When you locked a continent, you'd just lose it the next day. Same thing.
Continental control is the new sanc-lock. It's highly infrequent, but still a possible goal.

Nobody's saying Planetside 1's continent locking is the way this should go, but it takes the starch out of a fight when it's all for nothing.

My point was not about Cont locks. But if this is a war game, this is the wrong setup for a global war.
