ADDITIONAL CLARIFICATION:

I'm seeing a lot of the same panic and assumption from the last time keys were handed out so I'll use the same response. Former PS1 players will be brought in as some of the earliest testers. That means all of them. If you fit in that category you shouldn't be worried about getting a key.

True true, it apparently is not the case that all veterans will get prior access to the beta, but they will at some time. Therefore I find it a dick move if someone who gets a beta key anyway takes it away from someone who doesn't have access to it at all.

You don't need to input a key if you're a veteran. The PS1 history in your account is all you need when beta starts. The keys are for players with no record of PS1 in their account.

I haven't entered a key but I have payment history on PS1 and my PS2 pass says "inactive". So obviously your key did something.

I'm actually trying to get a key form my RL friend who is at work now, I told em I'd do my best. Would be cool if we would both be in the Beta.

Remember you are gonna need his account details. It's hard to "hog these" keys for friends cos they go so fast that you will already have to be logged into the account as they get published if you wanna get in.

It seems I was real lucky if that "5s and they are out" is true.

I personally wasnt gonna even try and just trust the PS1 vet thing, I mean I even have sub running at the moment. However that comment on Facebook decided I wanna try, I mean.. theres not that many ways how you can interpret this one:

I'm seeing a lot of the same panic and assumption from the last time keys were handed out so I'll use the same response. Former PS1 players will be brought in as some of the earliest testers. That means all of them. If you fit in that category you shouldn't be worried about getting a key.

I think you have misunderstood. Or the 'fb guy' has misunderstood.

If it doesn't make sense it's not always because we're being randomly screwed over. Sometimes it doesn't make sense because someone somewhere got something mixed up.

These keys are 99.99% likely to be the same as the ones already handed out. Don't let the fear of what-if cloud your judgement :)

The reasons I would tend to overthink this is the qualifiers that have been used to in previous statements about beta access modify the meaning making those statements ambiguous.

When there is a ranking of "priority" and "among the earliest" and things like that it makes it seem like some ways of accessing beta are better or worse than others.

We're gamers, we want to have the most effective means of getting what we want.

It's like this for every beta, and I love it. The forums always suddenly flood after the anouncement, then beta keys, then "Did I get in? Did you get in? Let's grab pitchforks and torches and mob the devs!" Then everyone panics when they don't know what's going on every second of the day.

It was fun trying to get a key for a couple of hours until they spoiled it by letting us know it won't get us in any quicker :D

I always understood that the magazine codes would get in at the same rate as veteran players, so I gave my PCGamer code to a friend. I'm certainly not above trying to get in as early as possible though :p

I'm seeing a lot of the same panic and assumption from the last time keys were handed out so I'll use the same response. Former PS1 players will be brought in as some of the earliest testers. That means all of them. If you fit in that category you shouldn't be worried about getting a key.

A bit worried about it since my old account died and I could never recover it even with SOE's help (can't blame them for it, it was just a bunch of bad coincidences). Made a new account and bought the game again back in January out of curiosity for how it was these days but never ended up paying a monthly sub after that.

I asked on twitter if I was still good about 8 times but was ignored, guess I'll just trust that things will work out after reading through this thread. I was so damn tense earlier though... Whole thing has been a huge headache.

Presumably they still want thousands of people involved at some point in the closed beta (since that's what the load is going to be come launch). Thousands will be involved... tens of thousands, maybe not so much.

They might have to see if they can handle multiple servers at once with maximum capacity, which means that might need tens of thousands ;)

Or not. Now that Beta is now not 'soon' but 'next few weeks' i am somewhat sad that i missed my chances on getting beta keys :( But i could get lucky, like i did for Black Prophecy, too bad that game went down like a lead balloon on a planet with stronger gravity then Earth.

As long as you've got a PS1 account attached to the same account you'll use for PS2, you'll get taken care of. I managed to snag one of the priority keys on twitter last night, but I assume the original PS1 players will get in either first or top of the list.

Everyone who has ever subscribed to Planetside 1. You don't necessarily need to have an active Planetside 1 subscription afaik.

Yarp, I only played for about a year back in 2003 then another couple weeks when that cave expac whatever it was called came out. I figure current subscribers or those that were subbing since before this month will likely get in first, but everyone else that owns a copy of PS1 will likely not be far behind them.

Or they could do it a simpler way and just begin the invites based when your ps1 copy got registered with their database.

Or a combination of the both.

Either way if you own the game you're good to go.

They are being farmed by scripts. I guarantee you when Beta comes out the accounts will be up on eBay for sale.

Just got my beta key. It was incredibly easy. Forget the FB farming. Go on Twitter and ask for one in a clever/witty way. The Planetside official twitter is handing them out like crazy. I got one first try within 4 minutes of writing them.
