View Full Version : Do MAX units still have specific faction abilities?

Vanu MAX units had the jet packs and it was the reason I rolled Vanu in the first place. Just wondering if it's still the case and the TR being able to lock down and NC with shields? The Vanu certainly looks like it has a Jet Pack, unless the shoulders are just meant to look big and dumb like Warcraft. The TR also have the anchor things like the old ones did by the feet and the NC one defo looks like it would have way more armour so a shield makes sense.
Just wondering because it would be such a shame if not.

I'm 90% sure in previous videos it was stated that all of the MAX units would share abilities rather than have faction specific ones. I think this was because the old ones were not balanced very well (the Vanu max jump was by far the best, the TR anchor the worst), but people still love them and want them in. So the devs went ahead and gave the choice to every faction.
While I wouldn't call it ideal it is a solution to that little problem. I don't have any strong feelings about it.

Yes they will but they won't be the same 3, all 3 will be able to pick lock down, Jet pack or shield.

No jetpacks for maxes, only light assault get them. But ya each will have their own abilities. As of now they have not been ironed out.

From the in-game art it looks like all MAX units can be equipped with the old lock-down function (they've got anchors in their heels).

Some will be common pool, some will be faction specific.
I think they mentioned something about a charge, and that lockdown was in as well.

I forget where I heard it, but I'm sure they said Maxes will have an empire specific ability, and they might even have more than 1 to choose from. I think they are still working on it though.

this will prob be a single slot you can swap out the different faction abilities + whatever else they throw in. I can't wait to see how this develops.

I thought that Lockdown was still TR specific, while the rest are currently common pool and the NC and VS ES abilities haven't been added yet.
Hopefully we get a decent pool of abilities to match the massive amounts of customization in the rest of the game, with ongoing occasional additions. I'd like to see more than one ES ability as well, at least eventually. One would be fine at the start.

... This is off topic but I imagine if they implement a diving mechanic for the MAX (IF) people would become MAX PAYNE! Ha-Ha.
