Planetside 2 iOS Demo With SOE***39;s Josh Hackney - YouTube
Imagine the possibilities! Especially when we customize every aspect of it!
Also, during the TB stream, Clegg said that it woiuld be possible to join the in-game chat via mobile device. Jesus christ is that the 21st century or what!

Every morning when you wake up, have your computer wake up while linked to the alarm. First thing it does: say to you, in Iron Man's AI Jarvis's-voice, good morning FastAndFree, it's currently 65 outside. Quite a lovely day to battle some VS and NC. Once we get the API the community will crank out clones for the different platforms. Just hope they give us the same hooks they have in our API.

Im sure someone will make a windows clone. I know Malorn mentioned doing a windows app. Again, we need to see what they give us access to in the API before we can tell you what features teh community apps will have.

I'd suugest something outfit specific and filter stats by outfit.
Something that we can embed without our own outfit websites, for example compatible with Joomla. :D
Also, there is apparently going to be a whole lot of data available that ios not on these apps, perhaps there will be something interesting not already shown.

Adding a full, configurable, second-screen would bring logistical- and situation-awareness to a whole new level. If in-game second screen support isn't an option, even a browser-based app (ie. Chrome) with real-time map updates would be huge.
And of course an Android app to encourage the addiction. ;)

I believe I saw in one of the community vids that the dev team plans to release both an ios and android version. I think they said they aren't making the actual app but another company is, the devs just give them the info. All in all I think both version will be supported.

If we look into a mirror and say Higby 3 times, will he appear? Cause he needs to know this idea is gold!
Even just being able to have a function of the app so I can look at my phone when I get off work and see if my friends are on (or have something alert me that they're logging in) would be epic too.
But yea, having it give me a mission summary on boot would be a dream come true :P (especially if it had a phonetic annunciation setup so I could get it to say my name).
Will be waiting for an Android App. Will then Launch Airstrikes via my Tablet. Mwahaha.

And the Stream service is supposed to work with all PS2 metagame platforms (web/tablet)

There's got to be some crazy possibilities here with running the game on your PC and your IPad next to it. Just having an open continent map all the time would be cool for the CR5 types. I wonder if you could use it as an espionage device. Possibly as an NC outfit commander fighting the TR for instance you could look up a certain problematic TR outfit commander and find where he is presently and change your battle plans accordingly.
Or assassination missions randomly generated by the server. Picking a player and giving his approximate whereabouts on the map. If you accept the mission you must find him and take him out. Maybe targets are CR3 and above. And you are locked into Sniper gear until you liquidate the target or choose to quit the mission.
Sounds fun whatever they do with it.

Maybe not a technological one, but it is a gaming one.
And considering it's all going to be propritary, it's still a pretty impressive feat for SOE (especially considering your voice chat changes based on your location, what vehicle your'e in, etc..).

Not even a gaming one. Battlefield's let you look at loadouts and stats online for years. EVE's global influence map, while slower, is a web asset and you can access corporate comm channels via the EVE Gate site. SOE's been doing chat linking with the launchpad for even longer. The video says guild (outfit) chat, not local or anything. Which, without having a presence in game, only makes sense.
From everything I can tell, this is a web page with a pre-packaged vivox plugin all stuck in one of a number of mobile app wrappers.
Let players manage in-game assets via the app (read: more complicated security layers) and I'll be impressed.

You are high as a kite, from my experience... All the techies (professional) I know use iPhone, and gamers too. For afew reasons, iOS is a smoother OS, haven't tried gingerbread on dual cores though, and the actual "techie" Apps such as: ping(ping, tracert, telnet, subnetping), winadmin(best RDP I've used for iPhone),zaTelnet(fantastic for VNC). There isn't a respectable equivalent in Android, so I don't understand why your "techie" friends would prefer a subpar platform....

Yeah almost all tech people I've met IRL use iPhones. I have yet to meet a stereotypical raging Apple hater as you tend to see much online.
Some do have other phones for fiddling with (I had a Palm Pre 2 for that for example), but in the "it just works without having to mess with it" department, iPhone is pretty good.

Techs I know all use android O.o
I do know some apple techs, but their all apple.
iPhone is better for your avg user easily, but most techs I talk to agree android wins hands down for it's customization.
Most people just want their phone to work though... and stock androids are kinda meh. If you know what you're doing on android though, you'll spend a lot less on apps (legitimately).
The one thing iPhone really had for a while was touch response time... iPhone was just faster. New androids I've seen though are up to par. Can't say anything about windows but I'd tend to be apprehensive.

The old CR5s will never stop playing the game (old CR5s, not the fuckwits that finally ground enough CEP to spam Orbital Strikes).
Just a bit of a shame there's nothing for them to actually do in Ps2 (with three brain dead three-way cluster fudges) and no tools for them to do said nothing with, at launch. ;)

Would love this for my Windows Phone. Probably not going to happen so at least a browser version would be nice.

The API is still somewhat incomplete, I've seen it in the wild and it needs more loving before it's public.
