I guess that kinda disappeared and was a miscommunication in the SOE ranks. I got all flustered for a while too...

Today seemed to go a bit rougher than yesterday, oddly enough. With the mic problems on stream, twitter miscommunication, and the SOE livestream snafu. Still love you guys though!

They said they'd have news on the PS2 twitter, as the twitter page is still giving beta keys out all night one would assume that said announcement would take place after the giveaways have concluded.
Yes?

And it is only 6 over yonder.
I guess there is still time. The only thinh is that they deleted the tweet saying they were having a big annoucement. So either mistake or they wanted it to be a complete surprise.

I guess we'll see, they might have wanted to change it to tomorrow, since they'll still be doing the TB stream, and earliar than normal. I would hope we get to hear it this evening.
Nothing is going to be like "OMFG HELL YES"
Since Josh already said 'over the next few weeks we'll let people trickle into beta.
I can't see a much bigger announcement than that unless it's
"The first wave of beta invited will be sent out 'x' date / week"
Iunno.
Also Radar said to look for an approximation during E3, so who knows?

It really amuses me how many people think that inviting everybody with a priority beta key at the same time is feasible.
When beta invites *do* start going out, there's going to be so much entitled nerd rage everywhere. Which reminds me, I should go stock up on popcorn, in case I'm not in the first or second waves...

It's just me actually. Obviously there was a miscommunication this morning which we regret. E3 has shown literally hours of live gameplay which we think is exactly what you guys want to see. Of course there are the super specific questions and concerns about what you've seen but there is still Beta to make adjustments.

There is also still a stream tomorrow but I don't think they would announce anything through totalbiscuit or in a live stream.
They have a spot with IGN tomorrow coming up, thats a big site. Maybe more spots with other outlets I'm not sure. So to say an announcement of sorts is out of the question at this point is silly.
Either way all the footage and the awesome trailer sure didn't let me down and there is more tomorrow!!!

Since they got so many award nominees, they are probably saving the big announcement for the awards ceremony at this point, if there is to be a big announcement. That will probably give them the most publicity.

I assume they want a winter release, which winter btw occurs to be the "best" winter in long time - no BF or COD around this time (noone mentions FailOps 2). Winter + Spring are the bigest selling periods and aparently winter comes first. Let's say November as release month.
So, if we assume they want 3 months beta testing, exlcuding November (last month is always Gold phase), then the beta should begin in the start of August.

i could be wrong, but i think a releasedate set in a specific period ( winter for x-mas for ex ) doesnt really apply that much to a F2P game, since it doesnt hit the players where it hurts most ( in their wallet )
ie. they wont have to choose between for ex cod or bf because these both cost money wich not everyone has loads of.
ps2 is free , so anyone can play as long as they have a pc.
this partially negates the rush to make a winter/summer launch imho.

Well, I mostly tend to choose between different games of a similar kind. And if a PlanetSide was there before a Battlefield was released I can imagine many would try PS2 first and be blown away instead of betting on the well known concept of a standard fps title.

correct, still winter/spring are the bigest selling periods mostly due to the promoting campaigns they get; the majority of people (not only students but working people as well) have day-offs during these periods (Christmas/Easter holidays) and the purchasing power at that time (gifts) hits its ceiling.
A release "sometime" during the year requires more marketting/promoting to catch the attention of the people.
I bet on a beta on August or July :)

true, but if ps2 was a payed game people would have to make a harder choice
do i shell out 50 for BF ( example ) or do i shell out 50 for ps2 ? in this scenario most people would pick BF over ps2
because ps2 is free they will buy BF but still play ps2 anyway because "what the hell its free" so why wouldnt i play it.
this could cause people to see ps2 is way more awesome then BF and leave that laying by the side of the road while switching to ps2 and spending the cash on it when they have the cash to spend.

actually, this is not quite the case :)
according to basic microeconomics you have the "opportunity cost" for each good. By getting something for free AND not paying for something else, you minimiza that cost. And normally people tend to minimize their opportunity cost (although they might not even know what opportunity cost is :D).
However do not "normally", because people do not always act rationally.

i'm not sure i understood that correctly.
you mean that people are more likely to get something for free ( ps2 ) and not pay for something similar ( BF )
rather then buying something (BF) and getting the free thing also (ps2)
right?

right, because paying for something similar (for the same need in general) increases their op.cost.
Opportunity cost is what you give up to get something in order to satisfy a need. Apparently if you can satisfy your gaming FPS need with PS2 (0$) and by NOT paying 50$ for a retail game, then it's like if someone gave you 50$ :)
but as i said, not all people think this way, especially the ones with high income

well ill be damned, i actually learned something :)
it doenst really apply to me personally tho, mostly because gaming is my hobby and i am in no way averse to spending money on that hobby.
thats not saying im rich or anything, but i set a part of my income aside for my gaming fix.
