Planetside 2 won best free to play game, best PC exclusive, AND best shooter, which in my mind is a HUGE deal.

An MMOFPS winning best shooter is absolutely fantasticly unbelievably awesome.

It's because NC devs are much more hardworking in general, only once in a while you get a hardworking TR dev. VS tend to be in the back doodling things.

remember the "most anticipated game" awards some months ago? if we had the footage then, we have now, ps2 would have won every single one of them singlehanded!

at least most of my concerns are put to grave now! the world has noticed planetside 2 for sure, and a mmo that won the title "best fps", even against all the aaa non mmo fps games out there, will end up on everybodys radar for sure. the ps1 advertising disaster is history and ps2 has a better press coverage in alpha, than ps1 ever had in its lifetime!

The lists for IGN and Gamespy are generally the same, they are sister websites. Gamespy never has its head up its ass though, so I check there every day :P

Shooter competition included: Arma III, Crysis 3, Borderlands 2, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Metro: Last Light, Call of Duty, Medal of Honor: Warfighter, and Halo 4.

Pretty good list counting out the last three :P

Crysis 3 and Halo 4 could even be considered "similar" ... and they definitely have the notoriety to win just off of fandom. Very very nice (not discounting others, just noting that).

I agree. Winning three of their awards is kick-ass and great press for PS2, but two of them were easy wins. While I agree that PS2 absolutely deserves best shooter, it was by far the one out of those three that I'm the most pleasantly surprised to see it win.

I'm not surprised at all that they won! Fantastic work, all the footage shows just how incredible this game truly is so far!

It makes me smile to see popular game media sights turning there heads for a REAL innovative game. Most the time these guys give all the awards to the big hit games but it proves if you make something great enough when people see it they can't deny it!
