higby as state they work close with nvidia to push as far as possible the hardware possibility wich the hardware they want to push at is limmite is the GTX670 thats mean almost 2xgtx570 so yeah
you must expect the game to be scalable but if you want to max it out youll have to have a new gtx670 680 or 690 ULTRA setting
but the game will have personal setting or Low medium high etc.. so yeah
but everything max out its gtx670
thats why i just bough a gtx680 so yeah ill be ready to unleash the graphics of planetside 2
Im sorry to say this, but i think you are just saying this because you just bought a 680, higby stated this game can run on decent settings; medium/low that is, on 5 year old hardware.
let's say teh decent graphics cards from 5 years ago were, the 7800, and if you wanted overkill you had a gtx 8800,
if you were able to play, low/medium with these cards, which equal the power of a gt 230/240 ,
then i am almost sure that you would be able to max the game out with a stable frame rate with let's say a gtx470 or a gtx 560ti.
that is ofcourse if you have a decent processor to keep up with the amount of players you are able to see at once.
i really doubt you would need a gtx670/680 for this, also keeping in mind that the forcelight engine was finished like 2 years ago, back then they didnt even had the power of a 670

Nice post .
People have to keep in mind this is made for the masses and not for high end gaming pc's. if u have a normal pc at home (i call it a family pc) u will be able to play this game on lets say medium settings.
i bet i can even play it on my laptop.
it was their goal to make the game for many different setups.
These days the normal people just buy a console instead of expensive hardware. those days are over.

forgeligth is scalable i think you dont get the point ...
No ones said it will not run on a 5 years old PC they already states it will
there is a good exemple Tera online is also scalable
Low vs Max - Tera Max Settings vs Low Settings PC 1080p - YouTube
Planetside 2 will be no different ... Forgeligth is scalable and Here we talk about the MAX out setting at 60 fps
They have try to push as far as they can the hardware whiout breaking it so the MAX setting on planetside will run on gtx 670 + card
but this do not mean the game requires the max setting in order to be play ;)

i find a part of your post true, the differnce between the max and the lowest setting will make i it run on older pc's, but again you state you'll have to have a gtx670+ to run it maxed out @60fps.
but then how would you explain how they maxed it out 2 years ago when they had to do it with a gtx480?
also cards like the gtx560ti are able to run bf3 maxed out with 2x AA and shadows on medium.
considering planetside will be less heavy for your pc than bf3 (i speculate this since i wouldn't see any hardware more than 1 year old even run bf3 on lowest settings with a decent fps)
i am sure you won't have any trouble with planetside 2 with soem cards lower than the gtx 670
also most people play at 1600x1024 or 1800x1280 or even 1280x1024, at the e3 booth they were playing at 2560x1800(correct me if i'm wrong)
and tehre seems to be alot of confusion about what higby said, he said they were running at a gtx670 and that this gave them awesome results. (does not mean any card under gtx670 wont be able to do the job!)
I am not making an argument with you, i just want to clear some things up and make people with a not ultra gaming pc feel a little better ;)

;)
If you look at it this way Bf3 even on the lowest setting is still pretty
Medium and high setting in Bf3 look really good
And bf3 MAx out is stunning
Bf3 on a pc with i52500k and a gtx570 cant run bf3 with 4xmsaa and ultra setting the framerates will be bad
At e3 the game was running in 1080p on gtx 670 ... but higby said at work he was running it in 2560 x 1800 on his personal computer
But to come back on Ps2 performance acording to Nvidia the planetside 2 build is more GPU intensive than BF3 we will certainly see if its actually true !
I personally think thats if people want a 60 fps fluid and stable experience if they have a gtx570 or 560 ti ( Not SLI ) they will have to play it high setting ( not ultra ) and with 2 xmsaa the game will certainly look really good
but when you want to MAx out a game thats you are going to play for years its a investement to put a few bucks in the rigth card
ill use this gtx680 for about 2 years and then ill switch to the newest tech :D
Also at e3 higby said they have using GTX670 exclusively and also few 590 thats mean 2 x gtx580 SLI

As long the game runs.Low or high doesnt matter for me im fine.
never gave a shit about graphics.
Besides to much stuff going on at my screen makes me sic anyways.
if i play bf3 i play on lowest because my eyes can't handle high.

ive got a gtx570 and an i52500k and i can play bf3 on ultra with a stable 60 fps ;)
nevertheless, i understand your opininion, but still think you won't need a gtx680 for maxed oput @60fps
but we will know when beta starts :) hope to see you there!

The real problem is finding a monitor for that resolution that is under $1000.
They have monitors that resolution?????
O.o
I built my first pc specifically for planetside 2 and arma 3 and i went with the gtx 670 windforce 2GB.But as both games don't release until the end of the year i'm thinking of getting another 670 and a couple of extra monitors.

All I gotta say is if you are are getting rid of an 'old' 570, 580 or 590, I'd be happy to take it off your hands. I have a 560ti 2gb and I7 and hope to play it farely well and might get a 670 or 680 later when the game is closer to release, but seriously, guys, don't throw out perfectly good cards, there are some who wouldn't mind taking them.

well Higby said on a twitch tv chat I was in that PS2 is running DirectX 9, so if that's anything to go by, the game will be able to run well on low end PC's with graphics turned down, and will also be able to really push the limits of a high end PC with everything turned on and set to full :)
He said that if you can run BF3 on any setting, you will most likely be good with PS2 :)
and just for the sake of it...
gtx 550ti
4gb DDR3
AMD Athlon II x4 630 2.8GHz
its ok, does the job but planning on upgrading soon :)

They are trying to futureproof it and only use dx9?
