Could the devs add in a so that you could talk to team but not just press a button and then you talk to every one. It would only be heard a set amount away so only people can hear you if your close by like arma did. Also maybe add radios were you have to set the frequency to the same to talk to others so that could create trying to get on the same radio and intercept messages and it would get people that don't want to get mumble or teamspeak (friends). Also if an infultratior is cloaked and is talking on radio you walk by you would hear him and trace him. Possibly be able to search his body for the code he was on so that you could intersect transmits. Lots of ideas, none will get in haha ;)

Arma 2 has local area VOIP.

I know the devs have included a pretty substantial VOIP system for talking with different groups of people on the battlefield but I haven't heard about localized chat, would be a good addition if it's not in yet.

The option is there built in by default to the VoiP they are using, so basically they would just really have to check a few boxes and perhaps change some settings and it's good to go.
They have said that they are discussing whether they want this. I guess it would be OK to communicate with the people in your proximity who arnt in your squad. We know vehicles have their own voip channel, so this would mainly be a grunt thing.

They did this in MAG (on PS3) which had 256 players per server, and I thought it worked pretty well. The range would have to be really small, and the option to turn it off would need to be there IMO. I think it's worth a shot if they can do it.

ugg, screw BF3. As a long time BF fan I'm so upset at what that series has become.
