View Full Version : Outfit Tag System?
I've not heard it mentioned by the devs, but as a clan we've discussed it, so i thought I'd raise it here. Would you like to see some kind of Outfit Tag system implemented which would show up as a pre/suffix on character names and in the kill spam?
If it's something the community would like, now is probably the time to ask for it.

Absolutely.

Outfit tags will probably be done like other MMOs. You join an outdit and you get the option to put that name in paranthases before your own.

Theres a whole set of outfit features, among which are:
Outfit custom decals
Outfit vanity camo
Outfit tags in chat and killstreams
Enemy outfit names visible
Leaderboards
All of which sort of support the social and competitive aspect we all know they should have.
I dont know how to prioritize them...in a good outfit centered game they should all be required, and more.

I know my outfit wants a cape that we can wear with the outfit symbol on it.
Ridiculous? Yes ridiculously awesome.
Does anyone know if the devs have been drawn in this issue? As far as 'customisation' goes, this is a very simple way of representing you're clan. Any other Outfit related features we should be clamouring for?

Yes a prefix by the name for the outfit would be fine. I would even go a step farther and would love to have our custom outfit logo on our gear.

I would actualy prefer not to have the prefix, even remove the name on hostile targets.
that would make identifying what you are figthing a bit more challenging and make intelligence gathering a viable gameplay aspect

Tags wouldn't be forced on anyone. As someone who played first without and then with tags (both with KOTOR and DT) I'll admit the tag does seem to attract more enemy attention. However that's why it would be up to the individual. Personally i like to rep my Outfit and I'm ok if that means i get shot at a little more.

Dont care for outfit tags in kill spam, keep it as per PS.
Np's with outift under player names as a toggle option.
Would like to see outfit members names maybe a slightly different hue to spot in a crowd.
Maybe the same with friends lists, especially for those not in an outfit....yet.

Problem is only friendlies van view outfit names. Sometimes when you're tearing up the killspam it can be nice for everyone to know which Outfit you belong to. Imo it was something missing from the original PS.

Took another look at kill spam and they already tag them with faction logo's so I dont think they would add anything else.
The other problem with outfit tags being added is some could be very similar.
If you are restricted to maybe 4 characters and people follow the usual trend you could end up with multiple version of what is essentially the same ie.

When they are flashing up on the screen its not going to mean much to anyone.
In the end it is faction v faction v faction.
I always thought it was interesting when a fight was dominated by two factions and then the thirds colour would start showing up in the kill spam as they crashed the party.
Personally i find it more interesting when a fight is being dominated by one or two Outfits and it's always nice to know who the effective groups out there are. With 4 chatters it would be quite easy to make effective tags, and even if they looked similar to one or two others across the server confusion wouldn't occur often ass the chances they'd be active in the spam is not guaranteed, or that they've even be on the same empire. Obviously if recognition is the key and i didn't want my Outfit to be confused with a more established Outfit i wouldn't choose a similar tag!

oh yes, i made a thread about this and included a poll, CLEARLY based off the votes this should be in.

I see this as something that should be able to be toggled on the client system - that way if you care, you can turn it on and if you don't you don't have to see it.

That poll seemed vague to me.
If your poll asks "how do you like your tags" then maybe something like this is more appropriate:
If tags were added to the game, how would you like them displayed?
Before the name.
Under the name.
After the name.
Toggles on/off.
If you want a poll on whether tags should be in the game its a simple Yes/No/Dont care selection.
Your OP asks something different to what your poll asks.
As above the poll asks,
how do you like your tags
Then in your post your question is,
do you think when an outfit is created you should make a 2-5 letter tag?
Thats just a Yes/No/Dont Care poll imo.
The only thing clear in that poll is 26 people would like to see tags
We have no idea how many do not want to see tags because they didnt get that option in the poll.
Although the small level of participation could also clearly say something else. After all it had over 280 views and less than 30 votes?
