I have had both AMD and Intel in my rigs over the years, and the one AMD processor I had SUCKED.
Most programs are based around the Intel chipset, and most programs run better under them....
You get what you pay for, and I have NEVER had a problem with an Intel chip.
Thats just me tho.
The only real difference i'd say is AMD = cheaper and hotter. That's about it. Both are good CPUs, if you have the money for the intel go for it otherwise a good fan and the AMD is a very good CPU too.

AMD pwnages Intel:D
Intel VS AMD as well as Nvidia VS ATI are both more a question of preference than anything.
Some peeps will always say that AMD is better, some will say Intel, some will say Nvidia while others say ATI.
I'm pretty neutral myself, i go for what's the most cost effective at the time. :)

Its understandable that we cannot agree on Politics, but on hardware!? Can't we compare specs or something:D

AMD rocks! :) There is NO reason to go Intel over AMD. AMD has better mobos, they're cheaper, they run hotter but they're supposed to so you can not make that argument, and they OC plenty. :)

You can never agree on something that can be influenced by personal feelings/experiences which more or less means you can never agree on anything (well in certain philosophy theories anyhoo). Sure you could show somebody that the ATI is better in everyway than the Nvidia but if he's dead set he'll still find a reason or simply say "whatever i prefer Nvidia". :)

Only one of my friends cares enough about computer hardware to actually have an argument over it, and we have a tendency to agree on whats better. So i'm unused to such stupidity :D ;)

I have to concur with the people that are saying both AMD and Intel are quality products.
I've switched over to AMD, mainly because of pricing, and because I see no appreciable difference between the two processors. I've built several computers since the days of 386, and I can say that they both work about the same. Speed has always been the biggest factor, not the brand.
