Looks like the Engineer class will be a must have for our Guerilla warfare against TR and VS :D

Zappy Zappy goodness... nothing like a nice lightning grenade to do some damage against mechanical targets, eh? Would be interesting if it scrambled the HUD a bit, but I don't know about that.
That's the engineer, right? Stickies, lightning 'nade, C4, claymore, and tank mines. Good stuff.

Haha, yeah I know how you feel. They some how always manage to be around every corner I go around when I play games that have claymores in them.

Loving it :) Tesla grenades, yum. Also as far as the Claymore goes, I think it's ok. Kind of a semi-replacement for a spitfire watching your back.

So far into the future and they still use C4 and claymores. Please, at least give them a unique model if you don't change the name.

True, but just imagine the amount of Claymore base spam we will see this go around.

There may be, but they will cost resources so it hopefully won't be TOO bad.

I'm expecting this on top of the resource cost. I think it will be pretty well balanced.
In PS2, with these things costing you resources that you have to work for to some extent, people will have to actually think about whether it's worth tossing that grenade or not. Also, Friendly Fire. Should make for a lot less spam.

True, but that would be nice that one cert can let you push a bit the limit that can be deploy. Like basic you can put one and with a certain cert, you put 3 (just an exemple).
Just an idea put not necessarily balanced though.

I think one of the infiltrator certs lets you play minesweeper, doesn't it? That's at least one counter (as long as you aren't being shot at, of course).
Or maybe a couple of shots will set it off? I don't know...

in bf3 it's like
>walk in building
>explode to Claymore
or
>look at ground for claymore
>Shoot claymore
>die to guy inside cuz he knows you're there and you're looking at the ground
Claymores are BULLSHIT

Oooooooo lightning grenades!
Sounds kinda like the grenade mode on the Maelstrom back in PS1. Hated those things with a passion. At least they won't be spammable this time. :)

Yes, Infiltrator certs allow for EMP grenades and EMP Spiker tools that should work as minesweepers.
Makes good sense to me.

Claymores should only one shot kill infills at close range. And maybe LA

I do hate it being called C4 though. Sure, it makes it easy to understand for new arrivals, but I hardly think "Boomer" was a hard guess.
This is the future! At least make it "C7" or something. :p

I've never liked devices that kill you before you get a chance to react. There's no skill in those. Spitfire and mines worked in PS1 because they didn't kill you instantly. Boomers worked, because it required manual detonation. If claymores don't instantly kill you, nobody will use them, and instant death is lame.
I agree that C4 needs a new name. The less real life is referenced, the more sci-fi it will feel.

C4 is a fairly plain name... Boomer sounds cooler anyhow. Maybe call it 7A8? That name is ten times as good as C4!
(cookie to anyone who gets it)
EDIT: I actually can imagine claymores being used fairly easily to be honest. The speed of that Gal Drop and assault was insane, and anything that will damage people and slow them down in order to prevent them from immediately overrunning a position. Also, any kind of hallway would be a good place for the things, especially if there are little alcoves they can hide in.
Hmm. I wonder if a cloaked infiltrator triggers claymores?

aye, the main bit was old news (thanks again Neurotoxin!)
That one tiny tooltip says it all, LIGHTNING GRENADES, woo!

Just give claymores a decent setup time and they should be fine. They'll be deadly during an initial assault, but after that they should be risky to use.

My main question is whether claymores can be used indoors.

Might turn out messy if they don't :p

also like to add I'm not a fan of claymores at all in games, hope that they don't make it into PS2 or if they do they're crap.

C4 * A = 7A8 if you're counting in hex, and I claim my cookie! :D
(Yes, once I'd worked out what you were up to, I cheated a little and used a converter to check. I'm not so hot at the 16 times table...)

To be honest, I thought of the joke but then I had to figure out what it actually was in hex and I couldn't remember. I was never really good at decimal to hex, but I only really learned decimal to binary and then binary to hexadecimal for computer networking stuff. So don't worry about it, I cheated too!
