First post for me, been lurking for a while, but I thought I'd finally register. Thanks to the PSU admins for a great site!

Anyway....

I have one small concern about in-game chat. Can you chat with opposing empires? Hopefully not.
I'm just asking, because I'm sick of all the crap I have to hear while playing Tribes2. The sh**-talking is so annoying, and I'd rather not have to put up with the "you're gay" "learn how to play n00b" type comments (not that I get those too often mind you :p ).
I figure there won't be too much of that if you cannot actively slam your opponents, and why be nasty to your teammtes? (barring TKers of course)

I hope this wasn't asked too many times!

You cannot chat with other empires.

You won't be able to speak with the opposing soldiers. If you have a friend on the other side, and you want to talk to them, just use pms

Enemy soldiers in a close proximity will hear your ingame voice (T2 variant not mic) chats tho...

Like for instance you press v-g-h (just an example) and you hello, then the enemy can hear you saying hello.

If it's tribes 2 like, then they probably will have taunts in the voice comms. You'll likely have to get used to hearing those alot.

Generic taunts/animations aren't bad at all. I'm just sick of the vulgarity, and complete nastiness of some of the players.

Good point Psyklone, I too am getting fed up with all the little smacktalkers that have the vocabulary of sailors. It will be nice to see an end to it at last.
