View Full Version : What would help video makers?

How about they implement something like the flying what-do-call it in BF3 and add it into PS2, but you are able to turn of the inferred sight and just have a blank screen choice as well? This is a good example for video makers...

I have no clue if any information about this has been mentioned already, but I'm all for it. Really, with the things people do with footage from video games these days, its kind of a no brainer to give people the option to turn off HUD and anything else.
Now as far as fly-over cam, or whatever, I think that could potentially give an unfair advantage. If you want to shoot fly-over footage, hang off the side of a galaxy or something and shoot it like they do in real life. Hopefully production wont get interrupted by weapons fire, but thats part of the peril of filming in a war zone.

I wouldn't mind seeing a couple of flying spy cams that could double as filming devices. Just make them cost quite a few resources, have very few hitpoints, and some other disadvantages to outweigh their ability to be abused excessively for free intel.
One would be slower and more nimble for use in infantry and urban filming, the other would be quicker (and larger) and be able to keep up with air superiority fighters.
I don't think that making them cost as much as some of the more expensive vehicles would be too big a problem for filming purposes. Besides, players could still use other methods to record footage.
I imagine that Light Assault will make good camera men from various vantage points.
I'm somewhat concerned about whether we'll be able to use fighters as flying cameras though. That 3d cockpit would certainly get in the way. Maybe there could be a sidegrade cert that removed the 3d cockpit with a tradeoff, or maybe there would be an ingame recording option that could be toggled to remove the hud and 3d cockpit on the final recorded footage (which wouldn't be useable in live gameplay).

Just a 10min delayed specatator feed will do. PRetty much like DotA 2 for instance. Anyone can spectate, but there is a 2 or 3 minutes delay...

Battle Recorder from BF2142 was one of the better ones I've seen. Except there's probably enough strain on PS2 srvrs as it is, A optional client side one would probably make it feasible. Instead of recording actual video it recorded placement data so it was easy enough to go back and check it out when ya did something cool from multiple angles.

it could also find hackers and boosters, by being able to say, at this time, this place, they were doing this, and prove it. It would help if they could that,

Ya that's another bonus of it eh. Though really, I used to enjoy hunting hackers. I'd hear a few guys saying someone was hacking then I'd kill him a few times in a row n they'd cry n leave or something.

Most MMO's have a disable UI option for screenshots. I don't see why they wouldn't include this in PS2.

This makes me miss Enter/exit animations even more. It really brings a lot to the Machinima value.
Beta would help? lol
Shutting off the UI
Disabling the cockpit view in an aircraft so you have a full screen view.
Being able to adjust the speed of your character slower than normal
Being able to deploy camera(s) independently from their character. That can be stuck on objects or vehicles or just float around on their own.
Some sort of in-game demo recording support. Something similar to the battlefield recorder would be awesome. You start it locally and it tracks all the data from the game until you stop it. Then to view it you play it back locally in game and can fly around, move forward and backwards in time. Slow motion etc.
Model viewer - for viewing in game models/animation on a neutral background so you can key them out.
Instance zone to work on film productions in game away from live gameplay. Nothing ruins a film shoot like a orbital strike :(

Or you could simply have the option to record something, turn off the HUD and things you wanted to, without having the option of an invisible, very weak, very expensive and highly greifable spyship.

Maybe they will have a test server they will allow you to use free roaming camera's on.
