-CM Storm Trooper
-Asus Sabertooth Z77
-Cooler Master 1000w Sllent Pro Gold
-Corsair Vengance 16GB ram ( PC14900, CL9 )
-Corsair H100, with two SP120 corsair fans for the radiator brought seperatly.
-Intel i5 3570k
-Win. 7 HP 64bit
-MSI GTX 580 Twin Frozr II
-Samsung 830 SSD 256 GB
-Seagate 1TB HHD
-Asus Xonar Essence STX
-A windowed site panel for the case brought somewhere else.
-And a 51 in 1 cardreader

The reason I chose for the GTX 580 instead of the 670/680 is that I upgraded my PC last year with an GTX 580. But that PC is 4 years old in the end of august, so my processor is pretty old (E8400 @ 3.5) and that bottlenecks that videocard a lot. Hell, it wasn't that much faster than my old HD4870. So now I will just take my 580 with I already have and put them in SLi. Can't wait, almost all parts are in stock. Only 4 are ordered from the supplier but those are already underway to the store so I except I can pick up my PC tomorrow or otherwise Saturday.

This is also the first PC I am building myself. So I am looking very forward to that too!

Nice I'm in a similar position with an E8500 and I bought a 7770 recently for it. I'm looking to upgrade soon too, probably end of this year or early next hopefully if I can manage! I'm so jelly lol, have fun with it!

Since it's your first build I would recommend taking your time and make sure you're doing everything right. Make sure the heatsink is properly placed on the CPU, make sure you get the paste on correctly if you're not using a stock heatsink. And get a wrist strap and clip it on the case, and make sure to stand on something concrete or solid, not carpet when working on it.

Make sure to take your time is what I would say, and watch out for cable management.

And as for SLI, I don't know what res your playing at, but it may not be optimum but who cares you already got it. And I'm not so good on video cards. Good luck!

As for the wrist strap here's some on newegg:

Aww man, I realized you are doing watercooling good luck with that all I've built are air cooled. Did you read up on how to maintain it? That's going to be important I think such as using distilled water and keeping the resevoir full.

Thanks!

Also thanks about the wrist band tip. I will look for them to see if I can buy them somewhere here in Holland. If I am lucky I can find them in a webshop and if I order them now I have them tomorrow (the store I brought my PC from doesn't seem to have those.) And the res I play on is 1080P. I just looked for a benchmark and it seems to scale really well at that res. Sometimes even almost 2x. Ofcourse everyone's build is different so it could be worse/better with mine.

And I will take my time yeah. I never assembeled a whole PC, only thing I did was upgrading my videocard. However I do mostly know how the PC is put together so I don't think it should be a problem. However I will be reading some tutorials so I know exactly how it works.

And about that water cooling set, the reason I got that is that it is a closed system. It is already pre-filled and you never have to look after it again to refill it :) And another reason I got that one is that it has thermal paste pre-applied. So I know I can't go wrong with that.

And I also recommend upgrading your system for that card yeah. My GTX 580 was hardly faster than my old HD4870 because my processor was just to slow :P

[edit]

Found a wristband for 12,50 inc. shipping. So I ordered that one and I should have it tomorrow :) Thanks again for the tip! Better be safe than sorry.

Meh, I've never used a wrist band, just make sure to touch a metal object, like the case, before you touch any computer parts.

The critical thing is to not "force" thing. If it doesn't go in fairly readily, check and make sure things are lined up right. Nothing should require much muscle.

As far as specs you're looking fine. To be honest, there's little need for 16gb of ram or a second 580 at this point. You could probably also save a decent bit of money on with a less marketing-driven SLI capable motherboard. (a regular Asus P8Z77-V LK, for instance)

I feel bad about the wrist strap costing that much, it must be because of shipping. I had to look up the corsairs h100 that sounds awesome maybe I'll pick one up for my next build!

Just make sure to put your components on, or probably in anti-static bags as you work on it. That's just another tip, and keep your screws organized. Maybe get some zipties for the cable management. But it's not that important as long as you have good air flow.

Also another tip when installing fans is you can rip some tissue paper and put it next to the fan to check to see if the fans are exhaust or intake that should help too.

I recommend both CareyHolzman's and Newegg's "How to build a computer" videos on Youtube, if you stumble across anything you're unsure of.

Nah man you don't need to feel bad :P 12.50 isn't really that much. And i'd rather have some ''insurance'' than when I screw up a component. And the shipping alone was 5 euro's, so that makes allot of diference too.

Well I did read about wrist bands in the past and I also read about them not really being neccecary. But I'd rather do it right the first time, since it is also my first PC build. And I think 16 GB is a little overkill too. But since RAM prices are really cheap why not. I have 4 GB of ram in my PC right now. A few years back I thought I would never need more. But now when I load up a recent game, my ram gets entirely full. And also looking at benchmarks the GTX 580 scales really well and should last me some years. And I could maybe also get a cheaper motherboard, but I really like the looks of that one (yeah, i'm like that :p ) and it seems to get good reviews.

Allright thanks, will look those up :)

Aaand its done! I was expecting the PC not working the very first time I turned it on since it was my first time, but it started up perfectly the first time! The only thing I forgot was the power cable for the DVD drive.

Installing some drivers now, but I think I am going to stop now and continue tomorrow since it is late here now.

Oh, and that SSD is faaaast! I have nothing installed, and I can already feel the difference in speed compared to a clean windows installation on a HDD :D

Will also post some pictures tomorrow.

My CPU sockt's metal latch took an insane amount of force to get closed.

Looks great! Yeah I am still sleepy. I was scrolling and thought the top of your case was like a R2-D2 robot from Star Wars.
