Anyone else kinda wish there were building heavy area, a place you could actually believe people lived but have been vacated out, street that have tight corners, and a lot of cover from Air, were the only way to get a foot hold into the base ahead is to wade threw the building with teams of infantry weaving threw the streets and allies.

All be it not a whole map like that but one of the Bio domes make for some epic dug in stories.

I know they sort of have that with the bases but I dunno just doesn't feel like the full deal of real Urban combat.

Maybe in a different game.

Actually if you look at the bases they look like they were ships that just landed and they were converted into residences! Heck the AMP station even has a ship's bridge on one side! The Tech Plant has like giant landing feet...

It makes it a lot more believable that they just built out around the ships, and made due wit what they already had technologically until (if ever) help arrived.

Though I so admit I've always dreamed of fighting through a small village in Planetside, door to door. But I think there will be time to add experiences like that during their 5 year plan or what have you.

Agreed, Issue with most tower/Bases at least in PS1 was even thou most of it was Inf combat that, that didn't stop people from camping doors with tanks or air craft, to see a zone were trying to camp anything isn't viable just cause they make it into the next building fast enough be nice.

Never liked urban maps in other games that much. Open terrain with tiny villages are my favorite... I think we will see that with the whole lot of scattered facilities over the continents.

Esamir (ice-tundra continent) is planned as an urban fighting area iirc.

Should be fun!

In terms of the bare requirements of what is Urban combat (building to building with intermitted open spaces) I guess the Amp station met that requirement in the E3 demo.

I also like that the indoor spaces seem to be far more open, they give units room to maneuver, rather than trying to ram through giant halls with only limited points of access.

Hmm Valid point, I wouldn't mind a mix of it thou, some part of the city are far more open then others.

I've been beating the urban area combat drum since the rumour of PS2 development started, I hope that they are going to add at least 1 city to a future continent it would be epic.

Pretty sure Higby mentioned urban enviorments in one or two interviews.... What he defines as urban I have no idea about though. Might be a small village, a town... I doubt we'll see a full blown city. Might be some old vanu ruins or something... I don't count those small barracks you can take cover in around the Amp Station as urban though.

Really enjoyed that movie.

My concern is that if peeps are saying that an open base like Zurvan could be hard to take, then what in heaven will a frozen city be like to take? We'll be eating the horses, dogs and rats before the end of the first week. And that's assuming there's no bridge to take on the approach to the city!

I would give my firstborn child to play Planetside in an urban setting.

And I mean a huge urban center, like New York. The grid system would be perfect, tanks would roll down huge avenues, tank hunters would be positioned in sky scrapers, Reavers navigating through the city streets etc.

Skyscraper style base with hack points at ground, middle, and top floors. Galaxy rooftop infiltration, Sunderer ground floor entry. Someone stop me being so excited by this idea before I start expecting C4 and fully demolish-able bases.

Don't forget to consider pitch black combat inside building with neon or zero light, with an incredible punch of adrenaline :)

(idk why but when you mention skyscrapper fight i still see http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/05/PKiN_widziany_z_WFC.jpg in my brain)

Reavers navigating through the city streets etc.r

I think the Scythe would have the advantage of being in a city environment by being able to take tight corners better than other aircraft. Maneuverability is king in tight spaces. :)

Very true, very true. I could see it being very balanced, the Reaver's durability would definitely come in handy while the maneuverability and speed of the Scythe and Mossy can help get out of hairy situations.

It would certainly add a need for a certain level of skill, if the Scythes are as nippy and quick as I'm led to believe. Leaves room for a lot of hilarious cockups from bad pilots.

sometimes concepts don't make it through review or are side lined in favour of other ideas, I hope with a little bit of help and desire from the fans that the city/urban zone will make it :)
