I know PS2 won best of show from Game informer. I also know PS2 won a huge amount of other awards from the show.

But I see now PS2 just won "BEST OF SHOW" from PC Gamer.

Best of show from PC Gamer is THE BIGGEST AWARD available in my eyes.

These accolades are fucking awesome!!! I still still give a little more mainstream cred to the Gameinformer props only because that mag is really targeted to the console crowd. I get my Gameinformer every month since I renew my Power UPc thing every year because I buy a lot of consol games and get some cool perks because of it (getting close to getting a turtle beach headset). To see PS2 taking home so many awards from E3 makes my heart melt and I have to extend so many props to the dev team that works so hard to make all this happen. I spent over an hour stuck inside a base tonight on PS1 blasting away at NC and getting killed alot and it felt great. I can't wait to get into PS2 and coninue the battle.

Planetside is and will continue to be the greatest game ever made!!!:)

No No :rolleyes: I am talking about more commercial advertising! For example when i am watching TV , or checking game sites and video's sites like youtube. I am always seeing something advertised about BattleField 3 on TV, Games sites , and video's sites like Youtube!

I am just saying they need to get more game exposure and coverage out to gamers with different advertising mediums. So on launch day you dont have alot of gamers say : Planetside never heard of it?

You can use the PSU social for example : go to the sites and check out how many people visited or tracking PS2 from thoes sites and its a good number of people but it could be more with some CREATIVE ADVERTISING.

I'm shocked that the same magazine which struck a deal with SOE to include beta keys in an issue of a magazine that most rational and sane people with an ounce of sense, taste and/or class would never subscribe to or otherwise purchase has voted a game from said company as best in show.

With that being said I do find it to be impressive that such a game is getting so many rewards from various other review sources and that can only bode well for the game's future and publicity. It'll be nice to actually have PlanetSide 2 be a mainstream and well known MMO as opposed to how PlanetSide 1 was a good but rather obscure MMO.

Like I said I think it's impressive with the amount of rewards they walked away with and that publicity can only help them as we come closer to release. I'm not saying beta is guaranteed to be in the next couple of weeks of course, but the radio silence is undoubtedly due to crunch time. If that crunch time will last 2 weeks or 2 months (ouch, don't burn yourselves out guys), it's all for beta.

They said at E3 that beta was going to start in the next few weeks, but they didn't nail down a specific date. That's because they don't know how long this crunch time will take. But it's not going to let up until people start getting in, and perhaps even a while afterwards (as they address early beta problems). Hopefully we will get some trickles of information here and there, but really we are going to have to make due until we get into beta I think.

I was putting the reveals into perspective. Because the devs revealed so many new things last week, I wouldn't expect to see much of anything new for at least a few weeks. I'm fine with that...they have earned their silence for now.

My guess is that it will be the best thing ever, while still having flaws. It can have both of those qualities at once.

I wouldn't say PS1 was quite the best thing ever for me personally, but it was still amazing despite it's flaws. It was also a fucking flop for the most part. I think PS2 will have a lot fewer flaws and transcend into best thing ever territory.

It's also an evolving thing. PS1 didn't have some of it's better features until after release. Obviously it also got a lot of shit that screwed up the game after release as well, but I'm going to be cautiously optimistic and hope that PS2 evolves mostly into an even better game over time.

Oh yeah, totally. But if they felt confident that they could absolutely make the date they planned, they would probably tell us, since at worst it would be delayed a few days to a week, which we could handle. I think they are being cautious just in case they have to delay it several weeks.

For all intents and purposes though, we have no fixed date from our point of view. We just know it will be "soon," as in, in the next few/several weeks. They could have been planning to have it released in 5 weeks, or in 2, but from our perspective I think it's safest just to assume people will start getting in before 2 months has passed. Because clearly they don't want to commit to a date yet. Everyone always sets a target goal, as it's important for motivation, but you only release that date when you feel relatively certain of your progress.

I've actually been campaigning for the game over FB. So far, I've taken 510 actions, sent 422 invites, and pretty much gotten all the missions done . . . except these secret ones. ><

I just hope they aren't something evil like, "get everyone who joined the app under you to join your actual outfit in the beta". That would be . . . sadistic.

e3 isn´t even long ago. the e3 aftermath isn´t even fully through! there are still e3 awards coming in like the pc gamer one. so this time there really is no need to cry out for more.

we already know that beta will be the next big thing to come and we have seen how extraordinary fast the devs are crunching! remember the last 2 weeks before e3? when they started to show off the game? the show where the client crashed every few minutes because higby wanted to show us the latest build with the newest stuff?
then, only a few days later at e3, the build seemed to be stable and totally playable!

a team that does this kind of progress in such a short time is allowed to be quiet on the forums for some time, in my eyes!
and whenever they took some quiet-time, something big was going to happen! so i am very excited, when the vip-tracker has nothing to do for a few days!

especially with beta being the next big thing to come!
devs, you are the best, and you are doing everything right!

but your offer to come around in person is awesome! is it limited to usa? ;)

i would get some cinnamon crackers for t-ray (or what was that stuff you always seemed to snack on during the agn-soe office tour?) and some bacon doubles for higby! will take orders for special snacks for the others as well ;)

Personally, I'm still riding the E3 wave. I like to let the E3 streams w/ TB loop on my 2nd monitor while I'm working. I've probably watched the day 3 stream alone 30+ times. >.>

I got all my close friends to do it, then I got a ton of my old classmates to do it, then I moved on to old coworkers, new coworkers, family, and finally I even got some of my 250 Taiwanese students interested in the game. :P

You guys would still be pretty awesome even if you didn't interact with us hardly at all, so long as you were still making the same amazing PS2 that we are currently seeing take shape. But I think we all prefer having you guys interact as much as you are, we just need to remember not to take it for granted.

Keep it up, and don't burn yourselves out too bad on this crunch time. If we need to wait an extra couple of weeks, we'll survive... somehow.

I think that is rather harsh on the work that Smokejumper and Sporkfire put into the community interaction back then. Sure, once they both left, ir definately moved into the kind of treatment you described, but it wasn't what we had for the entirity of our time after PS1 was released.
