What's the best way to go about optimizing multiple monitors? I don't play games that span across more than one monitor but there's usually something still up on my other monitor when I am playing a game.

Would the best option be using 2 Graphics cards just not SLI/Crossfired together? Is keeping them separate even possible without shit going wrong?

I'm currently using two 24" 1920x1080 monitors on one GTX 570

Correct me if I'm wrong, but does a second monitor used for non gaming stress a card very much? And I don't see why you'd need a second card to power the monitor, why not just SLI?

If you're not doing anything active like a video or something on the second monitor it hardly costs anything in performance.

I usually do have like a movie or something going on the other stream, but still if that doesn't cause much more stress than it would just sitting there.

You are fine. You don't need to graphics cards for two monitors.
