I've never owned an Athlon, so I really can't help you out very much. I hear good & bad about both, maybe Powda could give you some advice....try the tech forum:thumbsup:

I can't tell you exactly how they would compare but I know the AMD would be on top. My xp2100+ outperforms the 2.2ghz Intel in CPU benchmarks by quite a bit. :)
AMD 2400+: $132
2.4ghz Intel: $159
(prices from Newegg)
I'd say go with the AMD for sure, you'll save almost $30 and it will be faster. Also if anybody tells you it runs hotter... yes it does, but it's not a bad thing because it's designed to. It's not a bad thing. :) Put the extra $30 into better ram or hard drive or something. Also the nForce motherboards for the AMDs are awesome!

Yep, I'm going to be getting an Asus Nforce 2 mobo and an Athlon XP 2200. Heh. 512 MB of DDR RAM. Heh, can't wait

I personally prefer AMD chips for games, and for their cost.

Sputty, let me know when you've got your system up and running. I'm getting the Epox 8RDA+ mobo with same processor and 2700DDR 512MB memory. Wonder how we'll compare.

I recently upgraded from an Athlon Thunderbird 1.3ghz to a P4 2.4 and I'm very happy with it.
