The official release date has been moved to May 19th. And when you pre order a game, that's what it always says. I believe they only charge you after the game has been recieved by them.

I preordered mine a few months ago...at Babbage's, which is owned by gamestop. I will be making the trip to town to get it...not relying on the postal service with such a fragile package!!;) I already put money down on hold, so it's guaranteed!!
