Didn't see this posted, but Ars Technica did an article on PS2 today. Pretty big website that gets a lot of views so good publicity.

Cool nothing new, but good to see the press writing about it. But we need move coverage from IGN and Gamespot.

While the fundamental mechanics may be the same, some things have been simplified for the sequel. The developers have reduced the number of character classes from eight to six, experience points are no longer divided into three separate pools, and players no longer need special equipment to hack base terminals and seize control over facilities.
Urrrr what!? when did planetside have 8 classes?
can only gess they are talking about the armour types in PS1 but even then i can only count 7.

Awesome. Always nice to see media outlets getting word out about PS2.
I always felt that was a major issue with Planetside...There wasn't much advertising for it. No one really knew about it. Seems like everyone and their dog is gonna hear about PS/2.

Interesting that he said the same about footholds as has been written here.
However he did relate footholds to only three continents at launch, which make me wonder if that was prompted by a discussion with the devs which in turn makes me wonder that footholds will change once we have more continents.

This is the first article where the publisher understands the gameplay limitations of Planetside 2 compared to the original.

This is the first article where the publisher understands the gameplay limitations of Planetside 2 compared to the original.
That article could have been written by anyone who spent an afternoon on these forums. For example, Malorn's comments around the limitations only having 3 continents places on the metagame stood out for me in the article.
