I know I'm behind....
So I just found out that in PS2 the driver of the tank is also the main gunner.. WTF is that bull? Now drivers will never wait for gunners, because they don't need them anymore. The driver has a gun now. I understand they are trying to make it more "accessible" for arena FPS players so they can just jump in and play and do w/e they want, but this isn't an arena FPS. At minimum there should be an option to have the passenger be the main gunner for outfits and organized groups.
This small sh*t they neglect is what really grinds my gears. No vehicle enter/exit animations, no ant runs, no sieges, no jacking, no hacking/destroying terminals, no gen rushes, no main gunner seat, no insert more small shit they are leaving out here.
Disclaimer:I probably forgot a lot, some of this stuff may have changed since I last heard.
Why do I feel like they are doing what a lot of other devs have done to games and dumbed everything down so that it can appeal to a wider audience?
Maybe i'm imaging it, I hope this isn't the case.

can't wait for PS2 non-the-less and anything that is really stupid and lacking i'm sure they'll fix during beta when we all rage about it.

If we are lucky there will be a cert that lets the gunner control the main gun.
Then does that mean a 3rd slot opens up so that the 3rd person controls the gunners old weapons?

There's been talk of a cert that'll allow the gunner control of the main weapon etc etc etc. There's got to be threads on this somewhere.

The secondary gunner plays a vital role of keeping air vehicles off of the tank. Pretty much vital unless you want to die within 30 seconds.
The rest of it, at least to me, is not a big deal

1: They are adding a cert that allows your passenger to main gun.
2: They will probably add animation in a later patch. It will take 6 months longer to add them now.
3: There will be shield generators to destroy. Just not a main gen. And multiple spawn points and other points to capture.
4: This game is not Planetside 1 it is a modern remake of it. The map system by itself is a huge upgrade.

After seeing E3 I'm pretty sure that the secondary gunner weapons will be well worth spamming VNG (oh, excuse me, BNG :P).

There is going a cert that will allow you to give control of the main cannon to a "main gunner" in your vehicle.

Infiltrators will be able to hack terminals/turrets from what I understand.

Lol I wouldn't consider that hacking. More like holding an area. And I was more directing that at the part that said terminals could be hacked.
And I don't think they can be destroyed either.

Wasn't the main problem they (SOE) had was with the Magrider? Since it's main gun was stuck forward? Remember Higby talking about it, and suggesting possibly making it pivot 360 like the other tanks then having Cert for main gunner/main driver.
/shrug
Either way, this is the deadest of beaten horses...

Yea your right NClynx but I was speculating on equipment terminals I guess I should have been more specifc. I thought you couldn't hack or destroy equipment terminals.

Yea I hope so but I thought I remembered them saying no destroying equipment terminals because it slows the game down. :/ hopefully I'm wrong though :confused:

In BF3, tank drivers that didn't pack a gunner on the .50 tended to die sudden and unexpected deaths due to unfortunate point-blank encounters with a C4 wielding Support class.
Even worse was the tank driver that didn't pack a gunner on the .50 who was ridden like a horse by the gunship out of his primary gun elevation.
The most tragic tale of all, however, was the tank driver that didn't have the unlockable commander's position filled on his vehicle. He sacrificed the greatest BF3 rush of all - putting laser-guided missiles into anything and everything.
Just add people == just add capabilities. It may be a dead horse, but this is still true.

I'm sure it's been answered...But allow me anyway.
There will be Enter/Exit animations. Right now the game is still Alpha and they just want to make the game work first. SoE fully intends to add the animations in before the game launches later this year.
The thing about ANT runs...Did you ever really want to do them? Did anyone? Christ, I still play PS1 and if I ContAll for an ANT run...It takes forever for someone to do it. They aren't fun to do and were more of a hassle than a necessity. I'm all for bases running on energy of some sort and would love to see a new design implemented...But something better than that.
How do you mean Sieges anyway? Like with Catapults and shit? There 2000 people per cont...There will be sieges.
As for hacking...Don't quote me but I remember in an interview of *some sort* that the question about it was brought up. They said they weren't adding it *yet* because of the massive amount of customization of each vehicle. They hope to add it in eventually but atm at this stage of the build it isn't in there.
As for terms...We really haven't seen much in terms of them outside of the E3 demo. For all we know when we get beta terminal hacking/destruction will be implemented. However...When you die you still spawn as a class of your choice and not in your Standard Armour Pajamas...
Bases *will* have generators
Finally, as for the main-gunner seat...Things have changed a bit how tanks operate. Yes...The driver is also the main gunner. This obviously adds a convenience to things as you don't need to wait for a gunner. But it also gives that kind of Too Easy mentality. You need to remember though...There are 2000 people. There were only a max of 399 per cont in PS/1. When a tank has no secondary gunner...It can only operate well in one role. The TTK is much lower in PS/2 than it was in the first game. So a single aircraft can decimate a tank without a secondary gunner. Basically...If you are in a tank, you'll still want a second gunner. Air will tear you to pieces without it. The second gunner may not control your main gun, but they're just as vital this time around...
