Don't know if anybody has spotted this report yet:

Here's my translation
I'm gonna do what we journalists like to do the most: gaming...
We're at the SOE booth and gonna test a round of PlanetSide 2 which is a free2play MMOFPS... and we'll play it now.
The special thing about PlanetSide 2 is that theoretically it allows up to 1800 players. An unbelievable number which hasn't been achieved by any other.
There are as in every other Multiplayer shooter game quite a few vehicles, airplanes, tanks... all kinds of stuff. It can be spawned at any time and... now I'm sitting in one of these things.
They're moving a bit rough but we're still at a pre-beta phase. It can yet change.
The main objective on this map is to "uiuiuui" ^^ take this facility in the middle. Therefore we have to hold certain control points.
In PlanetSide 2 there are 3 faction. This is interesting... meaning there are 3 faction fighting each other simultaneously.
That's why it's quite chaotic at the beginning and not really easy to hold points.
Oh... Now they shot me out.
There are 6 classes in PS2: the infiltrator, 2 different assault classes, a medic, an engineer, and a quite heavily armored fighter.
The interesting thing is you can completely customize all of the fighters. You can change the color of the armor, the weapons. There are unlimited things you can customize. There are many things to explore.
PlanetSide 2 is a free2play game that means there is a item store which is not meant to improve your fighting abilities to win, it's more about optical/cosmetical things... this very typical "no pay2win".
I'm going to try a light assault fighter which has a jet pack like in Tribes Ascent, means I can catapult myself over the battlefield. And I'm just being dropped onto the battlefield in a kind of escape pod. Til now I didn't do so well... Let's see if it's gonna change.
So, here's the jet pack... and a tank in front of me which is not the best foe for me.
The most heavily armored fighter here, the MAX, can even handle a tank if he wants.
I prefer to fuck with infantries.
PlanetSide 2 offers a squad system like you know it from other games like BF3. Up to 10 persons can be in it. And the squad leader can give you special orders where to go, what to attack which lets you earn specific points.
So, I grab myself a vehicle... ... if it only worked...
Now I'm with somebody in a tank. Let's see what's that going to be.
So I'm going to kill myself because the really interesting thing about PS2 is this map here.
PS2 has a really huge map with many different points the 3 factions are fighting for. So this is a sector where we're currently located. If I'm zooming out you'll see the whole map and each of these territories is being fought for and this is only a minor part of a much bigger universe.
The game wants each of the 3 factions to fight for the territories in a kind of sandbox game... namely for ressources, and these ressources will give you money and power.
Meaning there will be huge wars between different guilds (which are called differently in the game) and the actual factions. This will make the frontiers shift and it'll stay a very dynamic game and I think this will be the reason why this game is going to be a success.
Oh, I did not die... like that. Apparently we took a point. This facility belongs to us.
The vehicles and airplanes can only take some few shots which enables you to respawn very quickly and doesn't make it too unfair. Means you somehow always have a chance to survive... you'll spawn quite fast so it's all not that serious and stuck like in a BF3 match.
I killed one...ohoo
Oh I can mount this "phalanx" :-? ... nice
I only need an opponent.
My map tells me on the left there is one. He won't see it coming... haha
stand still!... Too bad, nearly got him. Ah... at least got some points for it.
So now I'm using my jet pack... one of my few advantages on this battlefield.
Ah, one of our mates is taking this point... Here we have one of these big MAX robots.
These things can take quite a few shots but are hard to maneuver.
I think we're taking the point atm. I cannot do anything... certainly belongs to us. Move on.
After having played PlanetSide a bit I'm convinced that the game won't certainly be among the top games (considering game mechanics). But due to the implementation with this huge game world, with this incredible number of players it'll be certainly worth a try, especially cause it's free2play.
So when this game releases, and beta is going to be soon. Have a look!
He certainly isn't too impressed by the game. In another article by PC Games they also said PS2 wouldn't compete with other big fps titles (graphically) which wasn't aimed at any way... (wut?)
I was a little amused when he said something like PS2 being fast and easy while BF3 is a game where you have to fight long times to capture or hold a point (that's how I understood him)
I think it's the other way around at least for PS1. In BF3 you're dying all the way and quickly respawn while is PS a fight can go on for hours.
I think it's because of this E3 demo that he got this impression. Random base fights isn't really what PlanetSide was about. Sadly PC Games readers will think it's a BF3 wannabe with a futuristic setting.
