I can't do a poll because there are probably a lot of free games
I do this to understand who is writing behind the posts.
Since we normally discuss a lot of the subject of payments for PS2 i wanted to ask how many here have some F2P experience, please list the games that you have played.
In my case they are not a lot, i started with
Battlefield heroes (pay per win)
LoL(good microtransiction model)
Wot (average model, premiun tanks tends to have worse stats than their same tier, heal packets and premiun shells, clan wars but gives you chance to get cash)
BSGO(P2W)

I played many F2P MMOs (Tribes Ascend, Global Agenda, LotRO, WoT, Battlefield Heroes, Drakensang Online, Black Prophecy... probably some other too I can't remember now, and plenty of browser based games too) but never for more than couple of weeks per game.
Actually I played Faces of Mankind for few months but only because there were some really nice peeps there and we had fun in forums, I had to stop playing altogether to finish my college though so it was more by force then being bored. However that game is pretty outdated so I never went back when I got the time. Yeah I played also Battlefield4Free for few months since it was fun... but not being able to pick sides (Russians or Americans) and non-persistent world kinda makes a limited experience.
I hope PS2 will be interesting and fun enough to keep me playing it for at a year or two, it sure looks very promising. I play more single players games tbh.
GunZ the duel - huge P2W
League - F2P
TF2
Warrock
Quake Live
Alien Swarm

World of Tanks - I enjoyed the game and had no issues with their micro transactions
League of Legends - skins only and some minor boosts.
Runes of Magic - One of the only ways to compete in this game is to pay for Diamonds. Horrible pay2win
Tribes Ascend - Not bad
Team Fortress 2 - Never used the micro transactions. I bought the game before it went free.
All free to play games I have played. RoM was one of the worst in Pay2Win games of the bunch.

I've played Battlestar Galatica Online, Black Prophecy, many browser games. But i am mostly a console gamer but since i inherited by brothers gaming laptop for university, i am hoping to get into PC gaming after my exams are over.
Off topic: I'm sad that Black Prophecy failed, i don;t really see how, it looked like it was going to be an amazing PvEvP game, but somehow it now only has like 10 people playing it :(

World of Tanks has a decent model, they make it really frustrating to not buy gold, but if you don't want to you don't have to.
League of Legends has a fantastic model, possibly the best in the industry. They have great artists and skins that you actually really want to buy, and nothing can't be achieved with in game experience except cosmetic things.
I haven't really played a P2W game, I try to avoid those before getting frustrated.

League is DEFINITELY the model to follow in terms of success.

Warrock
Combat Arms
Team Fortress 2
Tribes:Ascend (paid $10 just to get the +50% VIP xp boost)
Tribes Next (more like freeware, but /shrug)
America's Army
Kingdom of Loathing
City of Heroes (gotta love a game that has almost no interesting content once you leave character creation)
Planetside Reserves (I think I played reserves when I was unwilling to pay for the regular game, but I don't remember)

I played Global Agenda. Awesome game, very fun, never found it to be pay 2 win since the margins of gear were decently small. It mostly let you get to high levels faster and look cooler if you payed cash.
Tribes Ascend. Sorta P2W I guess because it took FOREVER to get some of the best weapons. Had fun with that one but ultimately got bored. Not much variety there.
DCUO. Fun for a week, then got totally bored. Fine game though I guess.
WoT. Got bored pretty darn fast. I think it took too long to unlock stuff and never really found the gameplay very fun.
I guess all the F2P games I've played were pretty boring to me. Except Global Agenda, I really did love that game, but ultimately I stopped playing.
It's mostly because the game itself isn't interesting enough in my experience and has little to do with the price model or cash shop p2w whatever. Make a great game, make it free, and people will love you for it.
PS2 should do it right!

I just don't have the space to list every F2P game I've played - I try and play them all to give them a shot.
When I'm bored of a game I got to MMORPG.com and check what's free and try it out.
Do America's Army or Alien Swarm actually even count? ;) I mean they don't have any sort of premium content do they?
Anarchy Online
Silkroad
MapleStory
KartRider
World of Tanks
League of Legend
Heroes of Newerth
Battlefield: Heroes
Battlefield: Play4Free
Quake Live
Team Fortress 2
Ragnarok Online
Tribes Ascend
Gunbound
Gunz
RuneScape
Second Life
I think I also played some obscure korean and japanese ones but not that much besides out of curiosity due to someone mentioning it on IRC or such :D
edit: The only game out of the bunch that I ever paid anything for is TF2. The rest were never really that much of my thing.

League is DEFINITELY the model to follow in terms of success.
I don't think it is as easy as that. The model in LoL is so successful because by the time you hit 30 you are competitive, and as long as you play enough, you can get 6300ip before the next champion comes out. That leaves boosters out of the competitive scene, which is important.
In PS2, if there are resource boosters then there WILL be boosters in the competitive scene. Unless a person who plays competitively has enough resources to get a vehicle every time it is off cooldown, the game will be P2WIN. If they made vehicle cool downs substantial, it could work. I can't think of any other way to go about it.

i don't want to transform this in a "is PS2 going to be a P2W game, with mechanics etc..etc.."
I made it because i am worried that just camo thread got 136 answers(if we sum all threads about P2W will got some order of thousand posts) and i am curious of how many of the writers have some micro transaction experience behind.

I updated my post regarding my experience with the games listed. I did some micro transactions. Games like Runes of Magic in my experience the micro transactions was horrible. The only way to get things done in that game was to buy diamonds. I did not care for it.

Booster != pay to win.

Bought GA and made a F2P account to see if the complaints about the system were valid. Found it was fine.
Same with Tribes Ascend - played since closed beta still haven't put money in
League of Legends - haven't played a whole lot but no money in
Combat Arms - horrid got super frustrated felt very pay to win
Stronghold Kingdoms online - paid some money in. I'm not 100% with their system, felt like it required SOME money to compete I didn't feel it was pay to win but without a little bit of money it got frustrating.
Several browser games with different levels of payment needed.

Silk Road Online - Back in the day when Free to Play meant it was a pretty bad game.
League of Legends - Opened my eyes to the great potential of Free to Play, although it annoyed me when they stopped making champions that weren't either 6300 IP (about 4 or 5 days of hard core playing) or $10.
Tribes: Ascend - Works pretty well, but there have been a few updates that released over powered guns which either cost roughly $10, or literally hours and hours worth of in-game money.
