In planetside 1, Hvar is the sole interlink facility on Oshur Prime (http://wiki.planetsidesyndicate.com/index.php?title=Oshur_Prime). Its name comes from a Greek Island. To most vets, this is nothing new. It gets more interesting, however.
Lets take a look at the names of all bases on oshur:
Amp Stations
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Mithra
Bio Laboratories
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Rashnu
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Yazata
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Zal
Dropship Centers
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Atar
Technology Plants
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Dahaka
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Izha
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Jamshid
What do they have in common? They're all of persian and Zoroastrian origin.
Why is this significant? Enter Zurvan Amp Station.
http://www.pantheon.org/articles/z/zurvan.html
The primordial god in Persian religion, and the god of infinite time and space. Zurvan is the father of the good god Ahura Mazda and the evil god Angra Mainyu.
He had to make sacrifices for 1,000 years to get them because he is androgynous. With children representing the two opposites, Zurvan himself is regarded as a neutral god; one for whom there is no distinction between good or evil. Zurvan is also the god of destiny, light and darkness. In Zurvanism, the state religion of the Sassanides in the 3rd-7th century CE, Zurvan is the highest god and lord of the four elements.
so what can you extrapolate from this? Based on current evidence and naming schemes, Indar is replacing oshur or, alternatively... is oshur.
I think this means that Planetside 2 is a conspiracy to brainwash good <your religious affiliation here> citizens into this pagan religion!
Some of your links are broken btw.
Seriously speaking, interesting research. I wouldn't have bothered to look the names up myself, but interesting nevertheless :D

I know. APPARENTLY, wikipedia now embeds and its fucking my links up.
Edit, I broke the links. Just copy and paste them into your url bar in your browser minus the space.
I forgot to mention, this also suggests that Interlink facilities will be left out of the game

Im gonna go out on a limb here, and say that, its the end of the world.
And, the Mayans came into Araxius and did their voodoo stuff, and now, because you know the actual origin of Indar, you triggered the end of the world.

Hehe, well I do believe there is one interview where the interviewer refers to the continent in PS2 as Oshur, and, I think it's Higby he's interviewing (he's in all the interviews so it's hard not to go there), doesn't correct him about it... I don't know if that's confirmation or not... but if it isn't, this sohuld be then.

It deserves its own thread, imo. Grats though, you mentioned it before me. Silly me murdering vs ingame last night, I should have been posting to beat you to it!
Indar should be renamed back to Oshur. It's going to cause too much confusion when Ishundar comes back

We did kind of know that, though, since we know 9 full-fledged bases per continent, and we've seen maps that clearly show that those 9 locations are comprised of 3x 3 silhouettes of base structures. We know that Tech Plants, Amp Stations, and Bio Labs are all in game; we've seen each of them.
Thus, no Interlink Facilities and no Dropship Centers.

This is incorrect. Hvar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hvar) is a croatian island in Adriatic. Word "Hvar" is croatian version coming from it's earlier Roman name "Pharia" which came from it's earlier greek name "Pharos" what means "the lighthouse".

And the word Hvar is "a persian sun-god, one of the good spirits "Yazatas"" Another base name here.

Yes this is interesting... Croatian word hvar could actually have roots in iranian mythology, we often call Hvar a sunny island and with good reasons (http://www.direct-croatia.com/news/island-hvar---2718-sunny-hours-per-year).
There are some theories that Croats and other south slavs have an iranian origin and where local tribes from area of Iran that traveled to Europe. I find that very interesting. Word Croats (Hrvati in my native) actually is very similar to the name of the iranian (persian) tribe Harahvati/Haravati/Haravati (http://www.proz.com/kudoz/serbo_croat_to_english/history/3697706-harahrvati.html).

There is only one possible explanation.
Higby is a descendent of Zoroaster, and believes that he is the Ahura Mazda.
His goal is to cleanse the world of the great evil and the false prophets.
http://www.thefamouspeople.com/profiles/images/zoroaster-1.jpg
Just look at those flowing locks... and the bull horns on the staff (one of the first customizations put into the game).
Now look at the Ahura Mazda and the NC logo.
http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRKLna9Bgfcj0ElgJvY4HRaQJROwpsrk rVEv4YuWETZBO9sFqwL3GbUKUbGYg
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/__i3unaNKmWE/S90iZSX1QbI/AAAAAAAAAXE/2gSxEUPFk50/s1600/yazd_ahura_mazda.jpg
Both images contain celestial locatives (wings & stars). Both are also blue and yellow in color.
The second image is obviously a humanoid representation of Higby (the Ahura Mazda).
The wings (which represent all New Conglomerate players) are the means by which Higby gains his celestial power and ability to traverse various spiritual realms. It is by these means that he seeks to destroy the great evil and the false prophets.
The great evil (Angra Mainyu), is symbolized by the Terran Republic.
The false prophets (Daevas), are symbolized by the Vanu Sovereignty.
Then again, I could be wrong.

Wait, is this new information? I thought it was widespread knowledge that new Indar is a mixture taken from Oshur, Ishundar, and Solsar?

I like how two people tried to take credit for something already known. Even when I already have an in-depth thread on it.
It's 2012 people, search buttons are standard practice these days.

1 interesting point to note - "Caer" is also the Welsh word for "Fort", so a rather apt name for an Interlink I suppose - glad my 10 years spent in Wales are finally paying off =D
It also means I have an internal Giggle anytime I get a train that goes through Chester (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chester#Medieval) as we have to hear the Welsh names for places as well =)

In all honesty the naming is just a follow on from PS1's naming conventions for deities and mythological places in most cases.
PS1 is rife with it - Thoth, Amun, Bel, Dagda, Vidar, Seth, Bastet, Sobek etc.

The names of the continent and its facilities are Persian deities/spirits.
Indar - Warfare
Rocky canyons (TR):
Zurvan (Amp) - Time and space
Rashnu (Bio) - Justice
Tawrich (Tech) - Hunger
Grassy highlands (NC):
Peris (Amp) - Beauty
Allatum (Bio)- Goddess of underworld.
Hvar (Tech)- Sun
Dry sea desert (VS):
Dahaka (Amp) - Death.
Saurva (Bio) - A daedra.
Mao (Tech) - Moon
Indar is a re-imagining of the original Oshur, sharing the desert/rocky biome, impact crater, naming theme and several facility names.
