Nonsense... PS1 rocks don't have textures that detailed. That's at least a World of Warcraft: WotLK rock.

Looks similar to the medic healing beam, maybe it was just turned off before the pic was shot.
Could it be Amerish? Also, love how the NC are completely unfazed by the TR's puny little peashooter, which is about to get a nice, big, 150mm surprise by the looks of it.

That Prowler looks damned intimidating next to those troops. Makes me proud :trrocks: . Also the scale of those giant legs of the facility is impressive too.
The prowler's secondary turret looks kind of steam-punky from this angle. I can't actually tell what it is. Seems to be box-fed so dual machine guns?

Those certainly seem to be ammo boxes, but what is that cylinder/canister like object on top, almost makes me think of a flamethrower? Although it seems like the ammo belt on top is being fed into it, strange.

Unless splash damage is done badly like in BF3, i could be behind a tank, and still take damage from rockets. And if you have a driver that is A) Bad and B) Has to dodge something, i see alot of friendly squishing happening.

Yep I agree, now they just need to make it so the tanks can handle more than 2 shots and it would be a real good tactic.
From what I saw of E3 with the ttk on the tanks it would be a death trap.

I'm fairly confident the vehicles will get a big buff come release (beta?).

Typical TR, so prone to fear they are intimidated by their own troops! Or maybe there is some logic to it since your spray and pray tactics means they're more likely to hit you than their enemy.

You have to account for the shock wave from the explosions. That can be just as deadly as the shrapnel, and disorienting. It will def provide small arms fire cover at least.

I'm not sure if there's two of them or if there's just an awkward double-stack of twin MG turrets perched on top of the main turret. They were in T-Ray's Prowler test drive vid though...

I'll be surprised if it keeps a big buff. Driver-gunned tanks that are durable means nobody bothers with infantry (or, thus, infantry transport).
On the original topic, though, is anybody else surprised at the color? The devs must have a very narrow range of what they consider "faction colors" when they say "you can't paint your tank up in another faction's colors"... because the first word that comes to my mind when I look at that is definitely "blue."

I think mythbusters did something on shockwaves and such, and if you are behind something like a car wheel with the car sideways. Then you are pretty protected against shockwaves, but i can't remember what the explosive size was. Could be maybe comparable to a tank. So you could survive.
I'm not liking the implications of heal/repair bot playstyles for medic/engi. It causes severe imbalance for those that don't have a pocket healer, letting those that do run rampant

As someone who paints I can tell you that there's really only two ways to go when shading black (since it's really just a tone): grey or blue. In this case they've gone for blue grey in that lighting. Still not the rich blue of the NC, but you can't get good, detailed shading on black with more... black.

Which I get -- but the point is that, if that's the case, it needed to be grey, not blue. Reserving "blue-black" and "blue-grey" for TR is kind of limiting the range of colors for NC, isn't it? Especially if the NC wanted to have access to something that wasn't, you know, at full saturation to stand out against all terrain like a sore thumb painted Blue Man Group-blue.
I'm still not buying that, entirely, though -- the black stripe down the middle of the prowler is *black* (highlighting up to greyer ranges where the light glints off it). If the rest of the tank was supposed to be black, it should've matched that. It doesn't, so it's clearly meant to be.. blue.
But hey, maybe that just means that they'll let me have burghundy for my outfit colors, so I can turn the tables of color recognition confusion, right? Nah, I'd be really surprised if that were the case. Kind of like I'm surprised they're using a distinct blue-grey (alongside a black!!!) as the base for a TR texture.

wow...the contrast glare / silhouettes from the NC standing infront of explosion ...awesome effect!
Is that a side effect of HDR lighting / glare effect ?...really cool (normally in most engines you'd just see the models normal diffuse from whatever light sources were in front...but having a bloom effect from the explosion blow out the contrast is very very cool)...
...or is it just because they are in shadow, and the diffuse is really low anyway ?

Absolutely dig the scale they've gone with for tanks. Now if only they were as tough as they look. That E3 footage really gave me the sense that they're disproportionately easy to kill considering what massive hulking machines they are.
Looking forward to seeing how they tune things in beta.

Seriously. Heh heh...you WANT to stand near something like that for cover. To move with it. Perfectly natural. But people just aren't going to be able to get the most out of these vehicles tactically of they're little more than massive rolling bombs waiting for an excuse to blow up every friendly in a 10 meter radius.
This exact issue is, for me, at the heart of the one vs two man tank debate. I think tanks SHOULD be very difficult to bring down. Even with anti-vehicle weaponry. But its hard to justify the survivability of a tank when they can be spawned and manned by an individual.
Now, if a tank requires 2 or 3 people to truly be effective, its MUCH more reasonable to assume that it would be difficult to take down. It is, after all, several people's worth of time and effort to operate.

It's kind of interesting that if you look closer there are actually two Prowlers and one Vanguard in the pic. Hard to tell because of all the smoke. Speaking of which I guess some TR threw a smoke grenade? At least I wouldn't want random explosions kicking up that much dust.
