I was wondering if anyone knows how to fix this crash that must be graphics related. After 5 minutes or so and after spawning at an AMS (which could be coincidental) PS stutters for a split second and then locks up to a black screen. You can hear the last sound heard repeating very fast as well. PC must be turned off.
Win7 64
GTX295 dual in one card (old I know :0 )
I did search this forum but came up with threads from 2005. Figured I'd see if there is anything more current.
Thanks

Lots of old posts about memory leaks but nothing that described my problem exactly. Saw some posts about editing engine3d_pref.ini which I havnt tried yet.
After the crashes it's obvious that somthing is going on with the screen resolution due to various desktop widgets being moved around. For lack of anything better to do I ran PS in windowed mode and played for about 30min with no crashes.
I need to get PS stable for July 1st!

Windowed mode allowed me to play for a good hour and a half but PS crashed in the same way. I guess I'll try engine_pref.ini fixes if they are even still an option...the last post about them was from 6-7 yrs ago.

Finding little else to check or follow up on I opened engine3d_options.ini and changed (new_prefetch, new_texture, prime_geometry, and use_managed_ubs) to "True". I found these tips in a post somewhere (I dont remember where) and made notes days ago. I did manage to play PS for about 3hrs and never had a crash, though I cant say that making these changes did anything, searching for new_prefetch and the other values brings up nothing and a google search brings up old SOE support posts that are no longer there on the site. I dont really know what the effect of these values is supposed to be/do.
