Of all the posts I've read on this forums and the forum at planetside.com it seems that a LOT of people want to pilot the galaxy while no one seems to want to ride in one. It's kinda funny, but anyway, who here actually plans on being a full-time squad Galaxy pilot? I've been flying on games forever and I'll probably get my Galaxy cert along with Reaver and Mosquito but I guarantee I won't be doing Galaxy runs 24/7.
I also have a question bout vehicles. Do you have to wait a while before you order up another vehicle? Are you punished/is there anything bad about running suicide in a Galaxy or another vehicle? I remeber in Tribes 2 where people bought a transport and just used it to ram people with, I hope that doesn't start happening.

I don't plan on flying unless I'm a gunner or passenger, otherwise I'll be in my harasser. I read somewhere that you do have to wait a certain amount of time before getting another vehicle, but I don't know exactly how long.
My main focus will be Mosquito/Reaver pilot, MAX pilot and some sniping and grunt work.

Since the first character I'll be building will be an AT soldier, I won't have enough room for Galaxy certs for several battle ranks. So...might as well just hitch a ride wherever I go till since I won't be able to pilot anything heavier than a buggy in Reinforced armor.
I think the flyboys just talk too much.

for my main character I dont think I will be having any fly cert, POSSIBLY the mosquito, but not likely. For my other character I might have a reaver cert tho. And I would love to ride with some friends in the galaxy, probably rather then accually piloting it.
Either in a gunner seat or waiting for the galaxy to reach its destination, planning stratagy and stuffs.
and ya I think theres allot with piloting certs but I will be having my all-buggy-vehicles certs.

If you played ww2ol ... can you say OPEL driver??
Also, I'm sure with most it's understood that we'll have the galaxies packed full almost everytime they fly. They will be with SG at least :D

Basically my purpose. You looking for an outfit? A hit and run and general grunt would be appreciated greatly.

I dont plan on being a "Full" time galaxy pilot. However, I do plan on having it in my cert list. Its quite a bit of fun to pilot and I love being the squad schoolbus :p
I know it sounds like not many people want to be a passenger in one, but when you are part of a team it sometimes may be required. You gotta think of it from a team point of view. The problem now is many people think of the "I" and not the "we" there is no "I" in team. :)

Well, I personally hope there will be a whole lot of Galaxy pilots. I'll need targets in my AAA Max armor. :)

Reaver pilot, with secondary Skeeter/Galaxy certs. All-purpose fly-boy here. :p
i seriously cant see why someone would pay 10 bucks a month to fly a cargo plane...seems suxxor to me

)Maybe its just me but I really DO NOT wanna pilot the galaxy, dunno why just seems boring to me. Im sure some of you kind folks will give me a lift tho. For some reason I need to shoot constantly like a few shots every few minits or Ill start to get really trigger happy. I would never wanna tk but dont be suprised if you see me out in the middle of no where shooting a tree (Hamma i think weve seen in screen shots that you like tree shootin too :D )

I plan on watching Galaxies go down in flames because everyone and their brother will be shooting at them, all from the comfort of my Deliverer. That is the extent of my involvement with the Galaxy.

Yes, but if you rearrange the letters a bit you can get 'me' :)

I do believe there will be a few folks who do galaxy's full time. But, I think the majority of galaxy pilots will be secondary certs, and just used when their squad needs to get dropped into location.
And yes, I'm looking forward to riding in one. I'd much rather be dropped somewhere useful - inside an enemy SOI - than just fling myself pointlessly against their front line defenses again and again.
I am sure there will be a plethora of Galaxy pilots in the beginning. But I doubt many of them will stick it out... and I doubt that there will be more than a handfull will be any good.
I will bet that 99% of them will just take it up to max altitude, fly in a straight line to the LZ, and whine when they get shot down. No style, no skill, no zest. Just like DC and the insane amount of wannabe helicopter pilots:p

Exactly Led, the real galaxy pilots will be those skimming inches off the ground, flying below trees for stealth insertion. :drools:

I have to agree with incompetent on this one, I think the galaxies will be useful but I would personally prefer the ground transports... much more covert and stealthy

Depends who your pilot is :D
/me anxiously awaits the chance to take down Hamma or Led with his Reaver or Skeeter. :D

Cant believe you just described the deliverer as "stealthy". Its like trying to sneak up on someone with a bus thats missing a muffler.
I for one will be a passenger. I want a basilisk, a misquito, and maybe the empire buggy as vechs and thats it.

tmax, no one would do that, it IS a waste of money. However we WILL need Galaxy pilots, full-time or not. You can get more than 1 cert! I doubt ppl are just going to go fly Galaxy's all the time.

I think the deliverer can be classified as "stealthy". Send in a decoy Galaxy pilot from the north. Enemy will then be watching the skies and moving that way, and then the real attack force comes from the south in a deliverer. It all depends on your commanding officer and the way things are planned out.

Haha why does everyone think Galaxyies will be just floating targets? Maybe noobs but in an outfit I bet Galaxies would have protection.

Are they fast enough to take ten simultaneous Lancer blasts for the Galaxy? I think not. Even if escort wastes us later (unlikely, infantry can hide or fight easily), that's a potential 8 infantry + 2 MAX + Tank (BEP for all 3 people?) + Galaxy (all 4?) worth of BEP. But no, there will be pilots who will be able to make them hard targets, but escort will not do much since the element of surprise is just so easy against aircraft. Unless they have cloaked scout buddies right next to us.

Haha why does everyone think Galaxyies will be just floating targets? Maybe noobs but in an outfit I bet Galaxies would have protection. What are they gonna do, jump in front of the thirty something rockets/lancers and thousands of bullets everyone shoots as soon as they even see the damn thing, let alone be in range. Hell, if the enemy has any AA MAXs, which i expect to be pretty damn common, your escort is gonna get raped even worse then the Galaxy
Is it me... or am I the only person around that wants to be the gunner on a galaxy? It sounds like so much fun, I don't know why!

lol
I think that most Galaxy pilots will be pilots with the Cert pt(s) in Galaxy.
They don't have to fly it all the time... only once. Bring an ANT to the battlefield, then despawn, grab a different aircraft, and bring it to the battle....
That's my plan, at least.
You CAN get out of a Galaxy, right? Just hop out and join the battle on the ground...

That's the thing... being a gunner doesn't mean anything - just be a gunner for the ride over, then hop out... that's all ya need to do.
The passengers can man the guns, then hop out when they want to.

Heh, I think that people will be CLAMORING for a spot in a Galaxy . . . especially MAX armors. A MAX can't pilot a Galaxy, can he? If not, well, isn't that just about the only way he can get around besides walking?
I think there'll be plenty of need for the Galaxy.

I personally will probably not use a Galaxy much as I will have enough Vehicle and/or MAX certs to get around.

I don't remember this very well, so someone help me out:
Are there any other forms of transportation for a MAX outside of the Galaxy? Like, he can't ride in a tank can he?
So just take the number of people that want to be a MAX (for the Vanu I'll bet this will be huge, but it will probably be huge no matter what) -- there's the demand for the Galaxy.
I probably have something wrong there, but if the Galaxy is the only way for the MAX to really get around besides the long-term power walk or whatever -- then there will probably be heavies fighting for spots in line.
