i see that on facebook they have they have the recruitment center and you can get station cash from that. but do you think they should have some in game? that way people can get a few cosmetics. dont go over board and earn nothing but to be able to afford 1 or 2 skins

they would be things originally like first kill, first assist on base capture/defend first kill upside-down (in an aircraft) but go onto... take a base with (insert #) or less players. or kill a max with your knife :D

I really can't see this happening. They need to make money somehow ;)

Station cash? Uhm no. Especially considering it's a PC game, does any PC game with achievements actually give you useable points like the console version of said game.

What they could do some time down the road is give new players a wee bit of station cash to get them hooked on the shop, promotional profit deal.

maybe a little cash for some very few onetime things like "first kill of a full crewed galaxy".

but only to give a little cash to show the noobs how nice it is to spend some money on the shop.
just give them enough for a sweet little first fix. they will come in for more. approved tactics for any drugdealer ;)

The only reason I can see this as somewhat possible is because World of Tanks gives out Gold for holding territory as a Clan, but I doubt it would be Station Cash. Probably an in-game currency like Auraxium(which I believe can purchase everything that Station Cash can?)

A small amount for a few select achievements maybe ... just as an encouragement to top up the value with your own money to buy something.

No... adding to the other valid reasons already posted.

I think it would lead to or worst, encourage boosting/exploits between players just to get station cash.

Auraxium, not station cash. If so, then yes.

Not Station cash but maybe have some of the hard to get ones give you a camo or other appearance/xp item (sc shop-like) item.

No to station cash. Yes to resources.

Why not, but is it going to happen? No.

i was thinking more of that all of them together might just add up to give you a skin or 2 not much. if that's a no what about if you complete all the achievements you get a special skin.... RAINBOW!(not really) but something unique to show your awesomeness

Station Cash, no, some extra cert points, maybe. but achievements should also just be that, achievements. They shouldn't ever be something people feel that they need to do to progress their character.

not station cash... what about there be some skins that you get when you do achieves

We all know they will have a one time "achievement/event" that will have the player interact with the store. As stated by others, it's the drug dealer principle; to remove any initial apprehension a player might have about Microtransacting. marketing 101.

Beyond that, I don't think they will or should be giving out anymore. SOE would be shooting themselves in the foot. The last thing they need are players who contemplate making real money microtransactions holding off until the next achievement.

The most they should give you is resources (for things like 'Reached 10,000 kills or whatever), and even then I'm unsure how that would affect game balance.

You get XP bonuses for killstreaks, vehicle kills, revenge kills, and all those other little things I've seen you get bonus points for in games like CoD. If that's all you ever get, then that's fine.

But real-world money for playing the game? No, I don't think so. I'd like to see this business venture work for them.

I assume someone has mentioned the Diabalo 3 auction house? You could corrolate acheivements to a rare peice of loot really, they equal gaming time and skill.

All you would have to do is make a comodity where players are earning and spending real money, and SOE takes a cut of all transactions. It adds up fast ontop of the other items you will be able to buy. And the best part is, players are clueless, they just think theyre earning money for playing a game.

The station cash from the recruitment center is because you're recruiting new players into planetside, hopefully people who aren't familiar with it, therefor hopefully making SoE some paperrrrrr.

But achievements may unlock certain skins like this guy above me said or maybe a select few of the things that you can unlock with station cash.

Achievements suck.

If you give cash for Achievements, this is what is going to happen?

If their is a some achievement for driving 10000 miles....You are going to get people driving in circles for like 10 hours just to get the achievement.

Sure this is one example and I may be exaggerating but as you can see it will effect the game because people will rather do what an achievement says than do what the empire needs.

I chose yes. But it needs clarification as well.

I'll put it in terms of PS1 Merits because I don't yet know the PS2 merits/achieves.

I would not expect to get station cash for anything under Platinum level merits. I could see getting a small SC bonus from getting like a Platinum or Auraxium level merit (nothing huge either).

I've addressed this a few times in interviews in the past, but here's the basic gist. Planetside 2 has three fundamental types of items:

Power adding items - items such as grenades, med kits, certain types of implants (like a run speed booster), these items fundamentally alter player power and are acquired exclusively with resources earned in game

Playstyle items - these are sidegrades for vehicles and weapons, these switch up playstyle, and as much as possible are balanced against one-another to not add absolute power. These are available for Resources earned in game or Station Cash.

Non-gameplay affecting items - things like cosmetic skins, resource or xp boosts, etc. These don't have any impact on moment-to-moment gameplay and therefore player power and are available for Station Cash

http://www.planetside-universe.com/news-higby-clarifies-cash-shop-2751.htm

Close, but no cigar. Can't buy customization with Auraxium as of yet.

In regards to the thread, you shouldn't get StationCash from achievements. They need to make a profit.

Yes, because fuck giving SOE money.

IMO you don't give actual-money as a reward for gameplay, give bonus resources or a nice decal/cosmetic reward.

Yes, you should. It would devaule the currency and make buying crap with it easier for those who don't want to actually pay real cash.

Def. no to station cash. Resources - or achievement specific camo rewards would be cool though. Just make sure the achievement camos arn't as flashy as anything you can buy for $$, and its all good.

I can't see it happening, but it would be nice to see a token drip of spendable points for the really hardcore achievements (the 100+ hour ones), maybe enough to unlock weapon.

I'd rather have them reward resources for archievements and completed missions.

Keep Station Cash as far away from game mechanics as possible, else it might inflate and the game might slowly creep towards requiring SC to keep up.
