So, I've just finished reading the entirety of the new lore on the PS2 website. While an impressive and fun read, it still seems very incomplete. I understand that beta isn't expected for a week or more, and release is still months away, but at their current rate, I don't know how much more of the story they'll finish. I mean, there hasn't even been any mention of the discovery of Auraxis yet, let alone what happened after colonization.

Maybe I'm alone in this, but I like a lot of lore in my MMOs. Yes, this game is way more FPS than MMO, which is one of the awesome things I like about it. But this kinda thing is important to me. Maybe not to anyone else, but I'd still like to see it finished in time.

Specfically, I'm interested in this line about the new NC: "Led by an unusual quorum of outcasts, industry titans, pirates and former military leaders". I'd love the idea of playing as a pirate, but currently, I have no idea how or why said pirates ended up with the NC. Are there any other sources for the new lore that I'm unaware of, or is this it so far?

All that said, the stories really are pretty damn good, and all credit to Marv Wolfman for really bringing the story of Planetside to life. I hope he continues writing all the way up to release day!

Im pretty sure the Lore was just to give a flavour of the factions and history, and more importantly to release any content to keep us fanatics interested. To be honest one of the things i liked about PS1 is that it didnt explain much, you got each factions vibe, and they became your souless enemies ont he battlefield you made up the rest.

Also i think with how wound up people are getting over Beta, if they announced "HERES SOME TEXT!", everyone would fly off the handle. Particularly with us being soo close and after soo much fantastic video content.

It seems like they were really going full speed into the lore thing then they let it fall to the wayside. Maybe people just didn't care enough. I am as diehard a Planetside fan as you could find but I just never saw the lore as very interesting. I already had my feelings towards each empire the lore seemed like fluff not meat. Unnecessary.

I'm hoping it's just a lull in lore, and that they'll be ramping releases up again before (and after!) launch...

I feel like I can infer a lot of what happened from the brief mentions and the attitudes of those involved.

The "Pirates" referred to are the guards hired by Connery for the expedition there for the money and nothing more. Stranded from the Republic are deciding that "Might == Right" and employing their "Freedom" to take what they want how they want.

You make it sound like such a bad thing... We just happen to feel that the TR government suffers from an overabundance of money, equipment, and supplies. By relieving them of that burden, aren't we doing them a favor? Surely they wouldn't miss a few guns and ships... I mean, it's not like they need ALL their bullets to violently enforce their tyranny, right?

The vanu sovereignty does not take kindly to the approach of stealing, humans need to evolve and technology can enable that, not this Neanderthal "rule of the jungle."
