Now, first let me start off saying that yeah, i understand that using a gamepad gives you a huge disadvantage over mouse and keyboard. But sometimes i just like to lay back in my recliner and use a gamepad.

Ive heard that they MAY be bringing this game to ps3 so there may be a chance for gamepad support. just wondering if there is anyone else out there that is willing to sacrifice twitch aiming for comfort.

I started a thread on this awhile ago. A dev commented and said there would be support for third party controllers.

Yes. In fact I encourage all TR and NC to pick up game-pads!

In order to successfully hack a base or terminal, a tetris-like minigame should pop up that can only be solved by switching to your gamepad and reaching a certain score before getting shot in the back. How's that for base capture mechanics!

That's some serious Wii-U tech you got going there.

Ah playing FPS with a controller, otherwise known as masochism. Actually I'm probably going to use a pad for flying aircraft depending on how the controls feel. I could not fly choppers with mouse to save my life in BF, I was like a scythe pilot at E3. I hope they will do proper control support, i.e. support unusual controllers with many analogue axis available.

I'm pretty sure there will be gamepad support day one. At this point it's industry standard to add gamepad support and even if there isn't, you can just boot up Joy2Key or a similar program.

KB & M for infantry, Gamepad for flying. The way it should be. :)

This game is never going to the PS3 as is.

Also, I like how Binding of Isaac supported gamepads:

The answer to your question is: very yes. Very yes.

I'm an adult who works in tech support. My wrist just can't handle FPS games with a mouse for extended periods.

While I agree and I personally wont be using a third party controller for PS2, there are lots of potential paying customers that don't play computer games because they dislike using a keyboard and mouse. Allowing support for third party controllers is a legitimate concern for others as well such as the individual above who was bad wrists. I am all for it, play the game the way you want to play it.

A gamepad for flying aircraft is probably your best bet short of a joystick, so they'll be useful there if no where else.

Don't care if they support it. Though its like begging for KB/M support in a fighting game. Please SOE handicap me!

I don't know how the key setup will look in PS2, but with PS1 I used more keys than any other PC game I've ever played. How could that possibly translate to a gamepad? There aren't enough buttons.

You had to use 3 keys just for your implants... oh wait, PS2 is using passive implants... I think I found the clue - they ARE planning on console play!

Heh.

I want gamepad support for 2 reasons.

1. More people will play including friends of mine.

2. More people who have a disadvantage to me and can be easily killed.

I don't know if its because they are trying to cover all possible bases. But I do swear almost no game these days comes out with great KB/M focused interfaces anymore. They are almost always designed with possible gamepad use in mind. Skyrim and Witcher 2 interfaces were both gamepad focused. Even Planetside 2's doesn't look impossible since they have removed stuff like grid inventory. It sucks since it usually just makes it that much slower for KB/M users when we don't have a hotbar or click an drag.
