Probably not. If there was they would have given us an announcement that an announcement was coming...

I'm not sure if we'll ever see an announcement. As far as I could gather from their most recent report was that the CBT will happen behind closed doors.

They have been REALLY REALLY vague about closed beta, they somehow announced that it had started, but refused to tell us anything more that that,a nd now it seems te be quiet.
I too hope there will be another announcement soon, or at least something like; we have let the first people into the game!

But well apparently they need more time, so let's not haste them.

PS. I silently hope that there will be announcement today, since it is planetside day after all...

They're vague because they don't know yet.

However, I'd then not say 'a couple weeks' and here we are a month later still wondering.

If you don't know for sure, don't say anything :(

If they hadn't said anything, people would be complaining about that ;)

Plus minus zero.

I really don't understand why everyone expects a date for the closed beta? People will be let in by waves and that will just happen one bright day. My prediction is that the people with priority access (i.e PC gamer, twitter keys and vets) will start to be let in by mid July so just wait two weeks I guess... "A few weeks" from E3.

I keep hearing them say very soon. I am hoping by August since they where still working on Amerish and Esamir. Who knows maybe at the end of the Planetside 30 day free promo.

ChinaJoy is at the end of July. Think anything will happen before then?

My understanding is that they are using the beta primarily to collect data, rather than for de-bugging the game.

I believe the same thing. Right now they've got 120 people internally testing the game as well as thousands of AI's if I'm correct.

If they think beta isn't going to reveal bugs galore, they are mistaken...

Where do you get this understanding from anyway? What beta isn't about finding bugs?

I'm just reading between the lines. I might be dead wrong.

Technically everything below 8 weeks would be "a couple of weeks". Above 8 weeks it's months :P

Who knows maybe at the end of the Planetside 30 day free promo.

That is my growing fond suspicion.

If it turns out that the devs invited us back to have one last nostalgia-blast on the old PS -- which is awesome, and I'm playing a couple hours a day so far -- but also to get re-acquainted with all the warts and foibles inherent in it so we'd have a fresh understanding of why the new Auraxis looks and works like it does.... and *THEN* dump us into the beta for that fresh, sharp 'before and after' contrast in our heads....

...if it turns out they did all of this by deliberate purpose of action, then my respect for the dev team just went up about three hundred per cent. Because that is an awfully, awfully canny move.

And even if they didn't, I'm still seeing a lot of old friends and having a helluva good time.

Yea Higby's going to announce something about his hair. (Probably a new haircut)

That is my growing fond suspicion.

They're not going to let us in to the beta just so we can have fun, they're going to fix glitches and balance stuff. I don't know for sure, but they didn't give us 30 days just to keep us happy, I know that. I think they gave us 30 days so that the veterans would get hyped for ps2 (and if they already were, they got even more hyped).

Actually, "technically" a couple is two.

Maybe, but like the Publisher's Letter stated, they're doing client systems tests first before moving onto CBT and the tests for specific parts of the game.

Imo, they'd have 10-50 people in each of the various categories they wanted to test fore client systems, so a extremely small pool of people since they're looking for general stability first with discovering specific problems as a close second priority.

Imo CBT won't begin to get loads of people until probably mid to late this month to maybe as late as mid August depending on the results of the client systems tests.

It is.

its from the the vanguard video TRay posted last night.

Holy shit, I was thinking it was monday. Does that mean TODAY?

If I'm honest. I doubt it.

I would reckon either this week or next. Considering most people are expecting the beta within weeks.

My guess is beta starts up after the July 4th weekend; July 9th at the earliest.

How about this: they gave veterans 30 days so that by the end of it we'll all be in. :)

They must feel like GOD right now.

they can say whatever they want....we folks still watch the forums everyday in the hope to get something new.

im not playing the 30 days free right now.

done with ps1...since their are alot better games to play right now(maybe not in numbers but more like good tactics ...arma series for example...and not forget my dust514 beta i can play every weekend :groovy: )
