"We came here in peace, with the dream of exploration.

Through the strength and unity of The Republic, we have reached and grasped the stars themselves.

Only through the power of our collective will could we traverse the endless fathoms of the galaxy and find our new home.

For the betterment of ALL mankind we have acheived mighty deeds. We have become like unto gods in our power and reach. Never before has the human race attained such glory, and it is all due to the loyalty of the Terran people.

Yet there are those who think they have a "better" way.

These terrorists -these usurpers of power- would destroy a way of life we've cherished for hundreds of years, and for what? Technology? Corporate profits?

This self-styled "New Conglomerate" would destroy our democratic traditions, handing our way of life over to their corporate masters. They sells us oligarchy, and they call it "freedom." I name it what it is: Fascism!

And even worse- these so-called "Vanu." They seek not only to destroy our civilization, but our very humanity! They claim these alien artifacts to be the key to the future. But whose future? Toying with technologies beyond their understanding, they risk our very existence for some theological insanity!

For too long we have allowed these destroyers of a peaceful, stable republic to fester and grow like a cancer.

For too long have our our beliefs, our homes and our own children fallen victim to their radical, destructive ways.

I stand before you and I say, NO MORE! Today we stand. Today we fight. Today we show these blights upon humanity what they have feared in their dark hearts all along...

The Republic will never stop. The Republic will never surrender. We will fight and die until every single one of them is wiped from the face of Auraxis forever. When we claim blood and honor, we MEAN blood and honor!! From today until the last day, The Terran Republic will Fight, and we will win!

Remember that was one person (Lt. Cmdr. Waterson if I recall?) not all Terrans agree with what he did, but desperate times call for desperate measures. If it weren't for him the fleet would probably never have made it to Auraxis.

Terran Republic High Command has come to the conclusion that the destruction of Discovery-7 and the subsequent rumors of it having been the orchastrated by a Terran commander is none other than malicious VS lies and the bomb was meant to kill and disrupt the truth, that John Connery discovered the true nature of the Vanu statues manipulation of members of the fleet and he was eliminated by fanatical brainwashed assassins before he could reveal the truth to the people.

It's propaganda though. Doesn't necessarily have to be politically correct (although getting close helps to promote the existing backstory the devs gave us). Especially if you're a tyrannical. Interpretations of the lore differ from person to person. Far as I'm concerned, the NC cry for freedom is akin to political ads today throwing in "will create/destroy jobs" at every opportunity. It's a gimmick to gain support.

They're just terrorists that look well intentioned. I'm sure the individual soldiers are fighting for good... many of them... just as the Terran soldiers are, but the leaders of the New Conglomerate likely have different plans.

If he called the nc terrorist he would be somewhat correct because technically they are (fighting the government with gorilla tactics) but saying they are fighting democracy is wrong. The TR is very openly a dictatorship.

The TR doesn't openly want to be a dictatorship. Martial Law is just in effect until the violent rabble is no longer a threat, THEN it will go back to being a democracy once the Martial Law is officially lifted.

Here's the thing though: People cause trouble on ships > TR enact stricter laws in an attempt to hinder them > people cause even more trouble > stricter laws > more people are now angry > stricter laws....

It's a vicious cycle. The TR can't just disband on the terrorists whims, however. They're the only thing standing between armed thugs and civilians. Stupid people take the enforcement personally and lash out with out thinking of the why, smart people know it's for their own protection.

Thus, the NC is full of stupid people. This really shouldn't come as a surprise.

As an aside, had the Vanu Sovereignty never taken up arms against the Republic, they'd probably would have not only been left alone, but welcomed back into society after the war was over. Hell knows we're not opening that wormhole to get back home without their help. Far as I'm concerned, they're also misguided, but necessary to keep around. Put down their soldiers, make sure the scientists are well taken care of to do their jobs. Unfortunately, their scientists are also their soldiers. Fortunately, they don't exactly stay dead.
