Guys i'm not trying to start a flame war, but im new to pc hardware.... and i know there are two main processors AMD and Intel. Intel is suppose to be better , but then people say AMD does the same for less. I don't know which i should choose for my new PC build. I was going to get the Intel 3570k but it's hitting a little over my budget so is there any AMD processor that could reach similar results. Also AMD runs games pretty smooth, it's not terrible right? It's still really good... or no?
Right now I don't recommend buying any AMD processors unless its for a upgrade, you are a fan of AMD, or by chance the FX line fits you perfectly. Intel is currently recommended for low and high end builds. The Core i3 2100 is the processor you want if you cannot spend a lot. It beats most of the current AMD CPUs out there in terms of gaming performance and is only $120. 3570K is the processor for mid to high end gaming builds. Out does any AMD processor for gaming and overclocks like a dream for $230ish.
Is AMD bad? No I will not say that. Currently the market just is going more towards Intel due to what they offer. AMD CPUs still run games fine and similar to Intel at times, but its just not there currently.
Have you looked up reviews of what is available?

Yes i looked up a few reviews on google and bing, but they all have their pros and cons. I checked out the reviews on NewEgg but they are just a bunch of fanboys so AMD processors have 5 eggs and so does Intel processors.
And the problem is my current had a HUGE price jump from 860 to 920
Have you checked professional reviews?

If you are planning to make a media PC, then AMD is a good choice. You cant get all of the necessary hardware for dirt cheap.
If you want a PC that can run games, Intel is the only worthwhile option.

Eh, most games aren't very CPU-limited right now. Going with a decent AMD CPU is not likely to hurt your gaming by a significant margin.
Granted, that's right now. Who is to say in a few years. AMD used to be the clear winner in bang-for-buck, but Intel has managed even to take the lead there as well.
I'm an AMD fan, always have been, and was an ATI fan before AMD bought them. But admittedly now is a time where I'd be looking at Intel CPUs if I was going to build a rig that would last a while.
But like I said, regardless of whether you get a decent AMD CPU or a decent Intel CPU, your game is generally not going to be impacted very much right now; GPU is much more the deciding factor. Whether you want to try to futureproof a bit with a better performing CPU is another matter.

If you don't plan to overclock (which you said in another thread you don't), you don't need to spend the extra to get a 3570k...Just get a regular 3570 and save yourself...Oh. I was going to say $15, but today there's a deal for $15 off the 3570k which makes it the same price.
If you don't buy it today, keep in mind the rest of the 35XX CPUs though, if you're looking to spend a little less.

Actually changed my mind about that, but you may have missed that in one of my more recent posts.... It looks pretty easy in my opinion so i'm going tp give it a try....

Ah, fair enough. I just scrolled through your post history until I saw the usual list of questions.

i got a bulldozer 8 core 3.6 gig and it seems alright. never had to reboot it ever due to bf3. it ran ps1 flawless on planetside day and never crashed. my vid card is not uber but i was still 100+ fps in most fights. generally 120 fps going to hdmi on my 52" tv while playing last weekend for gaming 4 cores is really all you need cause that is generally all game companies optimize for however if ps2 programming and forgelight can use the 4 additional cores which i don't expect it will then amd would technically have an advantage in processing power. amd is an extremely stable platform and imo a solid competitor still. your ram, video card, hard drive are the biggest bottlenecks in a system. ssds are getting very reasonable. i might upgrade to one of those if i can land a 256gb drive for around 150 but they are just still a bit more than that atm.

I run the 1100T on a am3+ Sabertooh combined with a 670.
I´ve taken the 6core Because it was 100€ Cheaper with approx. the Same Effect.
I came from a Intel system, knowing the Sandy Bridge was better at that time.
But im really happy with the system, maybe i buy a Vishera(Piledriver).Ram is ready for that, but PS2 will run good, i think.
Today there are not many Games out who support more than 4 Cores.
BF3 is a good Example it supports more than 4 Cores ;)
->4 Is a Must in Anyway for a Gaming Pc.

Stability? OK. That's pretty much unrelated to the CPU you go with (of course any CPU has a chance to be defective) and far more closely related to the quality of the motherboard, power supply and cooling.
All of the sandy bridge and greater i5 cpus are quantitatively better than any AMD cpu for gaming.
The i3 2100 is a better gaming CPU than most/all the FX series. AMD is not currently a sound gaming recommendation.
So you've got 6 or 8 cores? They're all slower. You can't just "thread away" the performance issues.
About the only place AMD is really beneficial is in a very low budget non-gaming system because of the better integrated graphics.
Yeah, they'll pretty much work fine. That's not the point, if you can get "better" for the same price, or "way better" for a little more, they aren't sound recommendations.

If you are building, I will throw it out there..

I don't know about tomshardware. Perhaps it's good for an initial impression but it seems to be somewhat of a joke in some tech communities.

O yea i know about Newegg that's where im getting all my parts from :)... i been doing a lot of research on computers for the last 2 months :P, and Newegg has been VERY helpful in comparing components and helping me find answers to vital questions... Tomshardware i seen around a bit, but i never actually browsed the site
But thanks for the help Bro :)
