So, server stability in PS1 isnt currently at its prime and the load isn't even close to what PS2 will be handling. My question to SOE is if they're considering elaborating on improvements to server hardware and all of that to keep the game stable.
in other words, i want tech porn with info on how i hopefully wont get connection failure errors every 5-10 mins.

You know, Server specs, info on optimisation, server room pics, etc.
just like any good (http://community.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=3417) tech (http://community.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=3412) porn (http://community.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=1862), it should include graphs, numbers, interesting figures and many ideas on how servers will be in general, less crappy.

It's not going to just be hardware improvements. I'm sure we can safely bet that the netcode in PS2 is going to be a lot better than PS1.

tbh, I really would like to see an actual devblog on this. I know its a myraid of things they're doing to improve it all, but ~details~ never hurt anyone.

The APB:Reloaded guys did a great job with their devblog. But keep in mind it's a time-consuming task, and I'd rather see the SOE folks working on beta than keeping a blog updated.

About 10 years of improvements in networking and server technology is about all you ned to know. It's like asking for a comparison between a ModelT and a modern automobile.

Perhaps it's what is needed to be known, but I for one think it would be cool to have more details :D
The forge light engine will be the biggest advancement in MMO gaming if it works as advertised. I'm very interested to see what it is capable of producing. I keep hoping they would do some sort of tech demo of the engine. But honestly what better tech demo could there be to show off the engine than a 2000 person FPS game.
Though understanding what sort of server or the technology behind it would interesting to hear about.
Is it just one server for all of Auraxis or an array of servers? What is the system specs? How big is the connection to the server(s)?

I'd rather they didn't post such information.
No sense in giving away any information useful to potential hackers.
We don't need to know this stuff to enjoy the game.
My 2 cents.

I would be very interested in this information as well but AFAIK the only folks that have ever done this are CCP with EVE Online. Everyone else considers this stuff a trade secret.

This, considering my cell phone has better specs than Dalton.

CCP's Dev Blog is fantastic, and a worthwhile read for even non-EVE players. It is, for instance, where I learned about RAM SANs, the importance of message queueing, and how many servers it takes to crush a light bulb.
Have some:

Who knew I'd learn a new word today going to PU (PEW) Which in my day meant you stink. And Porn meant naked girls. Whats the new word for porn?
In any advent, I would like to see the Hardware specs, and know what data center you are putting it at. Where is all the hardware going to be setup.
And I concur with maradine, CCP's Eve online dev blogs, as a whole, are the best communication I've seen from any game developers for any other game. Eve patch notes are also very detailed, compared to other games. The delivery system should be copied by SOE for PS2.

I'd be great to have a CCP-style blog on the servers but I doubt we're going to get it. I've never seen any other company do it.
And.
Why is "technology porn" a phrase people can't seem to wrap their heads around?
