Ya know, the ones that say "NC defended x facility"
or..
"TR captured x facility"
after watching higby's stream for 2 minutes I realized they need to make these a lot smaller. They take up a third of the screen.

At E3, it was kind of jarring after a capture to see a huge alert with your faction symbol to cover the top half of your screen and say that you defended a particular spot. I'm watching Higby's PS2 stream now, and there was a point when four or five alerts popped up in sequence, resulting in what felt like a few minutes of half of his screen covered by the "Facility A defended" or whatever the exact wording was. Anybody else think that such an alert should be much less prominent? Perhaps a notification somewhere small, like in PS1?
Heck, people can just look at the prominent box in PS2 with the ABCDEF capture point graphics and see in a glance that a certain place was defended. The huge alert just seems redundant.

yea an option to change the size at least would be nice
At least it will be clear for those who always complain they will not feel they WIN lol while playing planetside 2 because the continents have foot hold instead of having sanctuary and continents lock !

i agree as well. was watching Higby's stream just now and every few seconds it would take up the screen.
I can picture a solid firefight where you are shooting someone up top and then that gets in your way and you can't see what you're doing.

I can already tell this will get annoying pretty fast. Imagine having that thing pop up every 10 sec saying certain facility captured by....insert here. Make is small....or something else.

I think there is an issue with the UI. It appeared to get stuck saying the same base was defended over and over again. I believe I saw Higby use some sort of admin command to clear it.

Hell if higby got annoyed by it, its a guarantee downsize.

Yes, that facility defended stuff is fixed in the latest build, but not the build we were just playtesting. Drives me nuts too.

Higby, that's great and all, but could we possibly have it able to be customized so that the notifications can be turned off or made small even in the area we are fighting?

1 - You're seeing resecure messages for bases which are captured from proximity, so when someone drives or flies into the proximity of the capture point and then flies out it says "Base is resecured!" this is gone because, duh.
2 - the large messages should only play for your currently active region, not each region on the map, other regions will play a smaller message that's way less intrusive.
It was driving me insane in the playtest too, you probably saw me run a script a few time to clear it.

But really, nice to see they're going to tone it down. BF3 does a simple voice over like "We have taken the objective!" or "The objective is now ours!" with a small flash over the objective in question.

Already fixed. Nice. Cause that was annoying. It should really only display the one region you're in (apparently everyone else thought so, too)

Not quite, there will still be larges notifications in the center of the screen. They need to go altogether.
Keep the HUD clean!

good to hear, would also like to see a HUD option to resize and move them to a less obnoxious place on the screen if you can :)

I'm glad to see this change.
For the first time during the last stream I thought the entire UI seemed large to me. I don't know why it never bothered me before but this time I kept noticing it.
I am very curious to see exactly how much customization they will actually allow in the final game.

I hope they really scale down the size, but I would prefer if they had it at the very top of the screen as a ribbon.

With how much they boasted about customization for the ipad and android applications I figure it would be pretty odd for them to not implement the same levels of customization for the in-game UI as well.
