Why do people seem to be under the impression they will all be playing planetside2 next week. It's likely to takes a couple of months for a lot of us to get in.

Combat Arms (though Pay2win) is F2P has over 10,000,000 registered users, and is HUGE overseas right now.

This game won't do that well, but it will do well, I think. F2P is just too easy to market, and its crazy profitable.

I hope it starts within the next twelve days or so, at least. That way I'll have the Steam summer sale to temporarily take my mind off of PS2 right until it opens up. But of course this has priority for me. I'm so freaking excited that I might squeal like a 12-year-old girl in line for the newest Twilight film. :bouncy:

We can but hope but as someone has said, its all speculation...but it's sooooo much fun.

Honestly, even if he's finally having his hair cut...It don't mean the tech test....the closed beta....the open beta...or whatever will suddenly kick in to a fixed timetable just for our convenience. The haircut thing has clearly become a really good publicity stunt for them...they will want to milk it as best they can (good for them). But it's not as though there will be some guy waiting with his finger on the beta switch for the last of higby's locks to hit the ground. Yes, yes it means the test is "here" but that could still be the weekend to even next Monday, rather than Thursday evening or Friday morning.

We know the tech test hadn't started as of a couple of days ago...It might be on now...who knows (although if it is, I'm surprised that it hasn't leaked, NDA or not). But whatever "stage" is on at the moment...the thing will roll out as they need it to. If the tech test IS happening as we speak and it throws up serious problems, do we really think they'll still move to the first stage of beta just cos higby's been to the barbers? This is all for SOE not for us. And to those worried cos they're working Friday or going away this weekend....relax, you probably wouldn't be in the first "wave" anyway...most of us probably won't be... :)

You guys are expecting too much. Testing will initially be closed testing by a small group of people. Please don't expect more than an email and an announcement on Thursday. That was no one will be disappointed.

RsR is correct. Not all vets are getting in. While they might have priority, it ultimately comes down to System Survey, hoping your account hasn't gotten flagged for something they decided not to ban you for and/or if you are currently active (which i speculate means you've been paying).

I've been doing betas for a long time, and there are indeed many that restrict you from telling anyone you are in the program. Often people that are in the beta will make something of a game out of playing dumb on forums etc.. "I guess we'll have to wait and see," "I want to play so badly!" :P Seen it many times.

"Tech test" not beta. The tech test happening today is for SOE's needs not the community's. Not everyone will get in and only comp specs selected are let in. That means that PS1 vets like myself will have as much a chance of getting in today as anyone else.

hard to tell where tech test ends and beta starts but the tech test really shouldnt take more than a few days from my understanding soooooo......perhaps beta invites going out soon if nothing else? i get the impression after haircut is done that either beta server goes live for some or beta starts next week and tech test fires up til then for the next few days with just a few external non soe people. either way we are very very close.
