In Preperation to GamesCOn Germany next Month, heres a poll to figure out how many peeps are coming along.

So, if you plan to attend GamesCon This year (The German Games event if you dont know, just google it :P ), please tick the proper box.
If you dont plan to attent, please dont vote at all, or make your choice between Pie or Cake (or PieCake!)

GamesConplan: Unknown, no idea who of the devs will be there (I only know of Higby and T-Ray for sure), and what Pro7 got in store for us. The only thin i know for sure is that we will have loads of beer with Brolly and the devs! Fine German Beer! :D

2 more Things:
1. If you plan to come along, please post here. If you know of anyone who wants to come along but doesnt post here, tell me.

2. This poll is public. If i see people ticking "Yes" that are absolutly unlikley to attent, i will message you. If it turns out you just clicked Yes to screw the poll, i will act. :P

If I had bothered to spend a bit more time looking into this, I might have been able to go - as it happens, I'm looking at £300ish just for flights =( So probably not - unless I can find a cheaper way out there (and also find an awesome excuse to be going in the first place, I can't see the gf being happy with "I'm off to Germany for 4 days to look at computer games kthxbai!" as I make a dash for the door).

So, guess what I'm doing tomorrow, internet research! =P

As for the plan: Last year was press only, this year i expect much more, and even if we dont get that, at least i gotta drink some beer. :D

Normally you will need at least a trade pass to get into the Business Area (in the past these were easy enough to get, you just sign up and put a company name in there - not sure how easy it is these days). But the vast majority of the PlanetSide 2 experience will be on the show floor.

We actually tried to get those business passes for a bunch of us, but after last years stuff (loads of people just got them) its rather hard to get them now.
In fact, no business tickets for PSU, sorry folks. :>
But as brolly said, most of the stuff is happening on the show floor this year, so no point going into the business area anyway. :)

I hope the floor demonstration has hands-on, a-la E3.. Looking forward to seeing the Dev's in person and meeting fellow PSU-goers.

I'm glad someone from PSU will be there (Basti no less!). I'm not expecting any amazing information to be dropped there since presumably by that time beta will have already begun (fingers crossed). The only thing I'm really expecting is further clarification on how this whole Pro7 set up is going to work.

My group of 3 won't arrive until late Thursday evening (9pm) at our hotel. Gamescon Fri/Sat leaving Sunday morning. So by this logic, Friday evening for a meetup would be perfect for us (and apparently Basti too).

Is there a schedule to be found somewhere what we can expect to see/hear/play from/of Planetside 2 at Gamescom?

Like, where is the booth, will there be speeches/presentations, and if so, where and when? Live play for the public like at E3? Beta key giveaway? Swag?

Any stuff that happens in the business area only but might be interesting for those who have access? Or on wednesday?

We will be making an announcement later today. We will have our own PlanetSide 2 booth at Hall 8 - Booth #B-060j. Matt will be doing some presentations too, and yes, there will be swag. I'll drop the official announcement in here later once its ready.

Also - it's going to be awesome.

The "Meet the devs" event will take place on Thursday night (16th August) at 20:30 at Brauhaus Früh here -

Was realy great event...lots of talking about planetside 2 (during the Gamescom itself) and so many other things (mostly during the event :) )...had a realy great time and many laughts with Josh Hackney and his beautiful and charming better half, T-Ray, Matt, Brollywood, Arclegger and all the guys from ProSiebenSat1 and the SOE Team...even Smed was there...and all the other fans there.

dont remember me...everytime my glass was half full, they put a new one infront of me...and i dont even like Kölsch (the lokal Beer in Cologne) cause its to thin for my taste.

Did you realy hang out with them till 3AM??? I was gone at 11PM (short after the SOE guys...i think they will have another day of hard today)

but brolly, you are right! events like this must happen again!
the fanbase for planetside is very passionate indeed, and the fans from europe are real hardcore fans, because you really had to care, to even hear about planetside in europe. back in the days there was no advertising for it outside of the usa.

i am glad, that the times of "low or no advertisement" for planetside are over. with PSG responsible for advertising people will stop asking "what the heck is planetside? never heard of it"

planetside 2 will proof, that keeping in touch with the community at a totally new level pays off! this is the way we want games to be made in the future!
keep up the good work and we will keep up the passion!

and next time i get a chance to attend a dev party, i will attend for sure! (if the sky isn´t falling again)

TRay was "supposed" to write TR 4 Life but the VS got the better of him. Got Clegger to write "Galaxies 4 Life" and finally Higby after some friendly banter wrote NC 4 Life, Fuck TR!

Finally the Planetside2 game booth, was able to skip the queue (hurray) and play as much as I wanted on the older China client. Alot of differences to the Closed Beta atm. But all the certs were unlocked, it rocked awesome-sauce.

Only got a chance to talk to Arclegger and Matt, but was a good chat and quite informative. Higby looked quite exhausted already but still took the time to discuss some things. :)

Unfortunately missed out on TRay (saw him just as he went backstage) and the Pro7 folks (they were in the B2B area, which we couldn't get in).

Played for a couple of minutes on the demo, which gives a bit of an indication what kind of PC rig I COULD ALSO HAVE HAD IF I INVESTED ZE MONEYS (woe is my Intel 2 Core Duo in comparison). :(

But yeah. Unfortunately didn't meet up with any other PS1 vets. Maybe some other time.
