Will territory ownsership be reset upon launch or will it be transferred over from the beta? Which would you rather?

Pretty sure everything will be wiped.

Yeah, it seems most likely that everything will be wiped prior to launch.

Some people say they might not wipe after open beta, but i suspect if there is going to be some kind of launch event they will most likely wipe everything to keep things fair for it.

I would highly highly doubt they wouldn't wipe everything.

You simply do not carry on unbalanced beta into balanced(lol) release.

They'll wipe everything. Characters, map progression, outfits, all of it.

^^^This... well, at least I hope so.

Can't remember the last time any company kept all the beta stats/progression when final was launched.

Tera just did it a few months ago (keep your open beta to release). I don't remember what all did, but there have been quite a few.

Many F2P games will do a wipe when transitioning from closed to open beta and then keep progress from open beta into release. Usually because they open up the microtransaction store in open beta.

The thing with a F2P game like Planetside having an open beta, if they just rolled right into launch--keeping all character progression and territory control--then the open beta would've technically been their launch. Likely, if they're going to iterate between the beta build(s) and the release build, they'll wipe progress.

wipe everything except character names.

If they dont wipe, i would like to have like cert point reset, ingame currency reset and bout weapons reset. So basicly you keep your progression that you earned but get a fresh start at launch to then go into what you want.

This is because with beta there are a lot of changes so a load out you may have loved could change and you find a new one. Decide that aircraft really arent your thing, or what have you.

To be honest i dont care if they wipe it or not, its just that i cant do anything about it in any Way, So i dont care :)

I was thinking at first you were asking if PS1 should influence PS2

If it did that would make those last PS1 days something special for sure, people fighting to setup how PS2 will start :D - heck of an event.

Does it matter?

In Planetside at least, control of bases were constantly being changed, you would go to bed and wake up in the morning and everything would be different.
They'd probably wipe the territories for launch, but they would just be captured again within an hour or two, so it doesn't really matter in the long run.

What I would be most concerned about is if your open beta characters will be wiped at launch, but alas, that's for another thread.

Everything will be wiped. Has to be otherwise the new players will be behind the players who where in beta. Every game wipes beta to make it a fare playing field for release.

From the amount of beta's i've been in, i'm certain it'll be wiped.

There's very little reason to wipe a F2P game going from Open beta to launch. Nobody gets advantage, cos anyone couldve played at open beta.

Closed beta to open beta/live, a wipe needs to happen.

They will whip everything if they do keep anything it MAY be created characters but no certs or any of that basicly just the body and a name like you just created it but never entered world

They will probably reset the maps at least. I assume they will let us keep some progression of our characters like most beta's do.

Yeah I don't care if they wipe everything, its a given they will wipe the maps, they may not wipe account achievements... but it's unlikely they will let some ppl start some months into a character while all non-beta players will be at zero...

all beta players will already have an advantage of 2-4 months, will know what to do and where to spend there points.
I suspect all will be reset.

I'm certain they'll whipe everythi´ng at least a few times in beta.

Open beta on the other hand mostly consist of stress testing server hardware and netcode AFAIK, so any balance testing should be done by then. So it's kinda feasible if they let open beta characters carry over to launch.

Time will tell though ^^

qft.

I fail to see what the point of that was...

Once they start accepting real money for item shop transactions, then there will most likely not be a character wipe after that. You can't just take people's money spent on characters and then delete those characters. That would infuriate people.

But I would expect at least a wipe of the map before release.

Announcing his agreement with your post above while doubling the chance of it being read? A lot of skim readers on here.

Oh... OK, I think I'm a little to used of "qft" being used to restate an incorrect comment so it can't be changed after... my mistake. :D

Any player can get into an open beta though, so there would not be any extra advantage.

well I think I just seen a confirmation of players getting wiped during beta as well as at launch...

Said wiped alot as beta builds. May not wipe after the game gets to a 'complete' enough point that people don't own items that no longer exist/are broken.

They'll definitely wipe because you would already have earned cert points giving an unfair advantage assuming some people don't get into beta.
