View Full Version : Tanks that require two drivers = awesome!

Tanks that need two drivers before they can operate properly

One driver for turning only the left side of the tank

One driver for turning only the right side of the tank

In order for the drivers to turn the tank, they both have to press the same Key on their keyboard, for example: Tod wants to turn left so he presses the A key, Rick also presses the A key which then turns the tank left, if both drivers press opposite keys (Tod presses A while rick presses D) then the tank will go straight.

Oh! and they both control if the tank goes forward or not, so if Tod presses W and Rick presses W then the tanks goes forward. If Tod presses W but Rick presses S then the Tank will come to a complete stop as the two differing commands cancel each other out.

It would require the utmost communication from both parties!! The teamwork would have to be so great, it'll be like two people in a potato sack race coming to terms with their differences then accepting them, then becoming first place winners of said race, then becoming bffs forever and doing that thing in the hot tub that no one will ever talk about ever again...

....

It's an awesome idea! Say Yay for dual drivers!

I guess the argument in the other thread has degenerated? (haven't looked yet, I just saw this and made the assumption)

I was inclined initially to applaud this idea as brilliant and revolutionary, but after further consideration, I wonder if you're not thinking on a grand enough scale. Why stop at two drivers?

I propose an alternative system with 360 drivers, where each driver can only move the tank in a fixed direction, and each direction is separated by one degree.

The turret too, will require 360 crew members, each one responsible for a one-degree firing angle.

Given SOE's stated goal of 2,000 players per continent, this idea will naturally require an increased player cap (from 2,000 to 2,160) so that each team can field its own fully manned tank. While this may stretch the resources of the development team (as the game will require an 8% increase in optimization for player count) the manifest (even exponential) increase in the fun factor of the game will be well worth the cost.

I'm all for something as big as a landkreuzer on the battlefield.

(For those that don't know, this was an actual proposed vehicle during WWII)

Yeah you have to hand it to the Nazi's they had cool ideas for weapons even if impractical lol.

Anyway the game could use a big heavy tank that requires a 3 or 4 man crew at some point.

Nah, a better idea is Baneblade's aircruisers.

i think the idea a big tank that required several people to operate fully would be nice, but one driver the rest gunners so....i want baneblades :)

They should even go as far to actually put it in the game for one day every year with this goofy tank that has no guns on it.

Clearly OP it should be one driver to go back, one to go forward, that would be far more funny.

Two Driver's = You and your best Friend in a Team.

Wonderful. What could a passionate Gamer want more? ;)

And thx to Liberator, Galaxy and Sunderer, two People in one Vehicle are not the Maximum.

Power Rangers: Samurai - Megazord Transformation. LOL @ Mauling mode - YouTube

And now imagine Tod kicking ass just fine soloing in mauling mode while suddenly
getting forced to rely on the tights wearing synchronised swimming team hindering
his supreme movement skills, resulting in something like this:

I assume this is a joke thread but just in case it isn't (I couldn't finish the OP because my brain started to bleed somewhere around line 6). I don't like it but also wonder something. Do you think that our tracked vehicles in real life have 2 drivers? If No, then why put it in game. If Yes, then no they don't, there is 1 driver per vehicle.

insurance companies have made my search difficult :/

I did find

The mighty Moloch

The Moloch - Car With 2 Steering Wheels (Front & Back) - YouTube

and

http://speyer.technik-museum.de/en/en/american-la-france-ladder-car

I still think a vehicle that had someone for back, someone for forward, would make for some epic action around vehicle bays.!

NB - More seriously, I actually think the moloch has some advantages :), if you could switch to whoever was driving with the flip of a button, would make an awesomely manouverable buggy, but it only really looks cool when its going backwards (or sideways later in the video with 2 ppl in it)

I think we should have big robots in the game. They should be able to outgun any other vehicle, but they should be on a timer so they're balanced. Also they should be solo, because we shouldn't lock anyone out of them just because they don't want to find a gunner. And also they can fly.

Lets have steam powered tanks that all require a coal/fire boy .

The coal boy can cert in to things and spec out his coal shovel for greater speed or acceleration .

His sole purpose would be leftclicking every 5-10 seconds to regulate the pressure and speed .
