View Full Version : So.. What's in the NDA?

Okay, now that beta is getting started I am curious what we as the not attending public can expect to hear from the participants who are already in. What are they allowed to publish?

I would really like to see some screenshots or videos although I doubt they will be allowed to put them online. I wonder if they are even allowed to post their experiences with the game so far, but that would definitely be a good read.

So long from Germany :)

I think it means no pics, video, or comments on bugs and performance.
But I guess they can tell at least if they are having fun...

the first rule of the NDA is "No talking about the NDA"

the second rule is "........"

Who knows, tech beta hasn't started yet; invites apparently go out sometime later today.

If I was in any for of beta (Which I am not saying I am) I couldn't talk about it

That's how the NDA works

I was in the Global Agenda alpha and we were allowed to say we were in it.

As Bags?

And, yea, I can only remember Warhammer actually having a "you can't even say you are in beta" note. Unless I keep missing it when I read NDAs, it's not super common.

Aye that's the most common procedure.

If you're ever in doubt about what you can share, then don't. Read the NDA if you get picked and follow it's outlines.
Heh I guess it should also be noted that those in beta might not want other people to know that they are in beta, saves a lot of questions:p

That's a really good point. Last thing I would want is page after page of PM asking me to break the NDA (if I were to be picked that is)!

Not all beta NDAs forbid telling that you are in the beta, some do though.

No facts, but I'm sure the tight Beta NDA's tend to be for the guys running proper Beta's - Where leaked bugs and faults may kill the game off in the trap. The weak NDA's are for the increasingly more common Demo type Beta's - No bug fixes, probably move a capture point etc.

Just make sire you read it all, not like normal T & C's that most ppl just click and never read.

Then you will know where you stand with what you can and can't say or do.

As this is a F2P game and based on the freedom of information (streams, etc.) that we've had up to this point, I'd hope that there are very few restrictions on players once the Beta starts.

We'll just have to wait and find out.

You aren't allowed to stream, talk or leak information about beta- period. There will be special forums dedicated to discussing beta testing and that is the only place you are allowed to do it.

I don't know why this is so hard for you people to understand. If some of you get into beta, it isn't going to be like "HEY LETS FIGHT NOW HUR" They are gonna be testing particular aspects of the game (Tanks, weapon balancing) and most of all server stress. Reading these forums its obvious alot of you don't know the purpose of beta and what it requires.

mkay, that or a lot of people have seen the more contemporary beta's where they're mostly about building hype, giving away "exclusive keys" hoping footage gets "leaked" to generate interest etc.
It's good to know this is going to be a proper beta however.....:D

The beta has not started just yet! Tech test will be underway at some time today.

Via Twitter from j_smedley "the invites for the tech test haven't gone out yet but will by sometime tomorrow." He said that yesterday.

Some folks might want to brush up on their reading comprehension instead of worrying about beta. It blatantly states not to leak any information about beta if you are selected for testing, it doesn't get anymore obvious then that.

I would have said yesterday "You can't tell people your in beta" because SOE hadn't told anyone when beta starts. Now that they have announced when it starts, I don't see why they would care if you said you are in.

I can neither confirm or deny the existence of the NDA or whether or not I have one as well as whether or not I signed one.

But I can tell you it punishes those who breach it with moldy string cheese, stale Sprite, and Paris Hilton.

How do you know this?

What... you've been in betas before? Great. I've been in countless betas myself, enough to know that companies can set whatever disclosure rules they want.... they can use whatever terminology they want.

Sure - SOE might be testing several specific things... one of these tests might even include large scale tank battles. And SOE might think it's pretty awesome to have players talking about the epic-ness and maybe making trailers from the footage.

But... but... HERPDERP guy on the PSU forums said we'd never be allowed to do this - because he knows all about betas... and Higby might reply - "you can ignore him, he's probably Vanu."

tons of times that is not the case with betas

If you do get in the beta and are under NDA you shouldn't be saying jack about it including revealing you are in beta. If you reveal you are, people prod you and eventually you cave and give info.

An NDA is meant to keep information private to the testers.

RadarX said you can't talk about ANY information from the beta. He said if you streamed or leaked information you would be removed from the beta. He said it on THIS forum. Go look it up if you actually care.

On top of that Higby said they were going to have "everyone use tanks" and "everyone use planes" type events during beta, so those kind of things ARE going to happen.

Know what you're talking (writing) about before you speak (type).

I heard it includes you have to name your first-born either Matt or Tramell. If it is a girl then Margaret.
