So I was thinking about the recon/spec-ops perspective of the game today and realized there isn't really a viable option for small recon/scout teams to deploy from the skies. Yea a small squad could just take individual faction specific light air vehicles, but there is more chance of spotting 3-5 vehicles than there is a small 3-5 man transport that can be stealth(not cloaked) on radar; and deploying a galaxy for under the radar movement is not quite effective. The liberator can take up to 3 troops, but it isn't really a dedicated troop transport, is still fairly large, and it lacks a stealth ability.

There a few solutions for ground vehicles that enable "stealth" insertion, but we seem to lack the same variety from the aircraft offerings.

Thoughts?

Fingers crossed they bring the PS1 Phantasm back at some point. Such a cool vehicle.

True, I had honestly forgotten about the phantasm until you mentioned it. I think I stopped playing before it released and I recall flying one after I jumped back in for my free 45 days. That baby needs to be in PS2. It is very cool.

I am sure we will be seeing more vehicles appear after the game is released.

I'd love to see that.

Yeah, the Phantasm along with the buggies are top on my list of post launch additions I'd love to see.

As I recall, it was mentioned somewhere that recons can cloak their ATV's and that seems to be all they're getting as of the moment.

I'm reluctant to say that they should get stealth aircraft considering how incredibly easy that would make reconnaissance. Just float invisibly at the flight ceiling and relay everything back, absolutely no risk =/

Good luck seeing anything from that high up. And surely a Phantasm-esque cloak would have some sort of movement-based shimmer or the like?

I'm sure you could still see something useful, and otherwise you could simply descend to observe, ascend to escape when noticed. Just like you say, "Good luck seeing anything that high up [and invisible]" :P

I would rather recons were finding perches and infiltrating bases than lazily hanging above them. Not to mention the fact that people don't often look up, and an invisible plane in the sky would be pretty damn hard to spot, shimmer or otherwise.

Hold on a second...

Is someone trying to enact their fantasy of playing as wonder woman?

Cloakable ATV's would definitely fill that niche in my opinion. I hope this is a feature in the finished game.

How about the original phantasm? Everyone remember the nose gun of doom!

Phantasm was amazing, it always looked 'Vanuey'.

Love the idea of being able to slowly swoop in and gently land in an enemy base, and having half a dozen soldiers jump out of this invisible trojan horse.

I really hope it makes a comeback in PS2.

Well in the OP I put "stealth", but not necessarily cloaked. I think an entirely cloaked single seat aircraft would be serious overkill; however stealth, as in not able to be picked up on radar etc, would cool.
