i dont see them making a MMO out of battlefield. the only real contender PS2 will have is Titan but im sure that will take another 10 years and it probably wont be free to play.

2143 could be a cool new release, I doubt it'll be a main competitor to PS2 though.

I liked it too, but i could never do the titan rushes because those killed my ping.

I really loved the hover tank and mechs.

EA and DICE is all about making rushed games for Call of Duty gamers now. I want to PlanetSide 2 because of the scale and more tactical approach. Something that DICE/EA can't offer me anymore.

2142 was the last decent Battlefield game, and the last one that could compete with PlanetSide 2.

From what i've seen so far PlanetSide 2 is going to be a king of massive FPS shooters for many years to come.

Leave 2142 alone, war isn't always about pretty colours. One of the best battlefield ever.

Battlefield 4(2143) is under development as we speak, it's been confirmed by some Origin leaks today.

Still, Battlefield is now focused on satisfying Call of Duty type of gamers. Small maps and meatgrinders.

The old DICE behind 2142 is GONE, they're all FIRED. Battlefield 3 looks like a sequel to a Call of Duty title, not Battlefield 2.

I love BF2142...always thought a Frostbite 2 based sequel wpuld be a big hit.

Titan mode was great fun and vehicle combat, AV weapons, walkers abd sniping were all ace.

In many ways (bar the lack of persistence and scale) the feel of the combat suprassed PS1 at times.

2143 would be a cool new game. spec with the new engine. destructible stuff would make it awesome. id say they could push it to 100 players maybe. but i dont think they would make an mmo.

DICE keeps lying to the fans, Caspian Border is bigger than El Alamein according to them, which is completely untrue.
It takes few a seconds to get to the enemy spawn with a jet, you can even see it from your own spawn.
Battlefield is dead and i'm happy that PlanetSide 2 came to the rescue.

Battlefield 3 maps are tiny compared to 2142 and BF2 maps.

BF 2143 would be cool but I really doubt that they would make an MMO out of it. I guess it could be competition for PS2 if you consider that any FPS can be counted as competition. There is no competition in the MMOFPS category since none others exist in the way that PS2 does (or even PS1).

i dont play bf3 anymore anywy. to omany servers with stupid rules on and only ever play on 1 map. looking forward to planetside 2. its going to be a good change. the battlefield games have been going down hill for a while. im hoping planetside will be a good change.

BF3's PC version is a nightmare, it's not even properly optimized. It's one huge memory leak. Keeps stuttering and stuff.

The whole game is a failure, we wanted a proper sequel to BF2, all we got is a Call of Duty ripoff with small maps.

BF2142 was the best Battlefield to date. BF2143 will probably be amazing.

Remember this: someone still has to control the Titan. I am hopeful that this means a good chance for the return of the commander role, at least in Titan matches.

BF2143 maps will also be large. The size of the Titans and the ability to deploy from Titan launch tubes necessitate a large map. The maps feel smaller than Conquest maps because its easier to cross the distances, but they are still large maps.

I would throw my money at EA sight unseen for BF2143. Yes it will have destructible environments, but that is not the appeal for me. What I am looking forward to are the gorgeous graphics, new maps, and possibly different types of Titans.

No, BF2143 would never be an MMO. In an MMO the vast majority of the time a player is either severely outnumbered or is on a side that dominates because they have the most men. Neither is what BF2143 is about. BF2143 relies on both sides starting on an equal footing. The dynamic comes from the multiple ways for both teams to win, and in how each side places and uses the main pieces (Titans, APCs, etc). Titan mode provides something that conquest, tdm or domination mode cannot - it allows a well organised team who has been outplayed for the entire game to turn it around and snatch a victory from the jaws of defeat in the last second. That sort of tension relies on both teams being of equal strength.
