The truth is we don't know how long the tech test is going to last. Our guess is 1-2 weeks. Could be shorter. Could be longer. Not trying to dodge the question. it's just the straight up truth - we don't know what problems we're going to see.
We can rest slightly easier now I suppose, though most people were shooting (grapsing at straws) for closed beta to start this week, it's nice to have some information.
Slightly disappointed about his comments about the EU side of things too but I guess it's necessary for a better long term game. I just want to get my hands on this baby and give it a spin and give my feedback too! :D

At least we should be getting a lot more coverage after the 17th (plenty from TB at least for sure).

Fiddlesticks. Obviously I've been religiously checking my e-mail for nothing all day.

That sucks, let's hope there aren't many problems. Hope beta still starts sometime this month.

On reddit reading from the players that were are the community event yesterday and did some playtesting; there appears to be alot of little bugs/glitches that need fixing.
I assume this is whats going to cause the tech test to take a little longer than originally anticipated.

Smed: The man with the answers, who actually answers.
If only the people who ran countries would be this way. It would be nice to have a question period in the house where people, you know, actually answered the questions that other members asked.

aaaah the EU shafting logic : iterations take too long ...
Which is kinda weird, I mean:
* a game developer must have a good internet connection right ?
* Software/code can be transported over the internet right ?
* Correct implementation can be done by somebody with equal educatation right ?
(depending on what, it might be able to do it remotely as well)

Well I am really looking forward to it too, but since I expected something along those lines I am not disappointed about it or something. Eventually we all get to play it :)

Argh! Wouldn't be so extremely mad about this if it weren't for Higby stating that the beta would begin after the 15th.. F**king Smedley..
Edit: My bad, the test would start around that date. Though I hoped for it taking just a few days to a week.

Eh? He never told that. He told:
Our external testing will be kicking off sometime this week (to be totally clear, I mean the week of July 9th - July 15th) with the technical test that we've been talking a lot about
Technically that is a beta test.

So 2 weeks before EU players can get in as they dont want high ping in early beta. I feel thats stupid as they need to test that too.

I don't care if it takes them three weeks to do the technical test or months for closed beta as long as they release an awesome polished product when the time comes. :D
I've waited a long time for this game, another month isn't gonna kill me. Hell another six wouldn't kill me. A year though... I'd be 6 feet under, drowned with my own tears :D
To all the self entitled whiners out there: Please do the quoted stuff instead. Thanks.

2 weeks? Blah, time to stop following this game and try to find some distractions so the continual pushing back of a beta date doesn't drive me insane.

Keep checking on your email. I will. There's no law written anywhere stating that only the initial peeps invited to a testing phase may be allowed in the testing phase, while new recruits must wait until the next testing phase. SOE could be inviting new people every other day just to cover as many specs as possible. Bugs don't necessarily equate to server stability, and pushing the latter is more likely than not a part of the test too.
